I think these people who have an untameable urge to give everything cat/dog/goat/general animal-where-none-belongs traits are (besides obvios "furry" and "non-pet animals are icky" options) really, really humanity-hating, and probably think nothing can be good if it's all human.
I am an autismal cat lover, but I cringe each time I see "what if X did random-cat-thing" posts.

Putting any canonical LGBT character through the tumblr grinder always results in their entire personality becoming consumed by “I’m gay”. In the entire game his gayness is only alluded to (at maximum) like 3 times. That’s how little it ultimately mattered.

I can only recall an offhand remark on his part and being able to recruit him as a follower by flirting with him if your character is male. Other than that I've got nothing.
