Yeah it's because they use global murder rates and willfully misrepresent it.
You know where the highest murder rate for transwomen is? Latin America. You know what the the vast majority of them are? Prostitutes. You know how safe being a prostitute in Latin America is? Not fucking very.
And so they use it to suggest that transwomen in the US are being gunned down in the streets constantly.

Some of the highest kill count serial killers are in Latin America and they usually focus on prostitutes because they pretty much don't bother investigating these murders. If a few whores show up dead, who cares? This is the case to a lesser extent even in the U.S., but they take it to a huge new level of ineffectual police incompetence there.

Something astounding I heard from Brazillians I know is that, it takes less paperwork for cops if they kill a guy, than if they arrest them. So cops in Brazil will just shoot people, because it's easier.

As far as I know, 2018 had about 24 trans people murdered in the US (I don't remember the exact number). That's counting all type of murder, not necessarily hate crimes.
Compared to the number of murder overall in the US, that's...pretty low, stupidly low even to say it's such a big problem and bring it as "WE TRANZ WUZ MURDEREDED". I am pretty sure suicide is much more of a problem at that point.
Really sad, when I think of it: They're so bothered by trying to look like huge victims, they end up making more trouble for them than solving anything. Ah well.

Hi, first time poster long time lurker. I got screenshots of Vanis 'suicidal' ramblings because it was so narcissitic, manipulative, and entitled it was kind of ridiculous and left me in no doubt she just uses suicide to manipulate her followers and guilt people out of asking about their art and refunds. I apologize these are only screencaps as I did not think to archive the tweet at the time. In regards to her 'money problems' they're not exactly out of her control. Among other expenditures she took out a 16k loan for a car (she wrote a long sob story on google docs detailing this car loan among other things in a since deleted journal), bought expensive breeds of cat, and in this latest debacle where she was facing eviction was paying approximately 1.5k a month for their own apartment bc if the testimony or their previous roomate is to be believed they're a nightmare to live with/too egotistical to share a space with. Also keep in mind she is now 28 years old and has been doing this for approximately 10 years

Christ Vani. I remember them from the early 2000s on ED. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if this was another ploy to get people off their back for the thousands, if not tens of thousands, of dollars they owe in commissions and merch. At some point they had a "manager" to help them get their shit together that reached out through Artist-Beware to find commissioners that they owed. I'll have to look but I think that LJ post got up to three pages of owed commissions and the manager bailed after seeing how much had to be done and how ungrateful Vani was.
They have a very long track record of using emotional blackmail to get commissioners to back off and also has zero qualms about using their family to get a loan under their name without their knowledge but it's okay they was in a bad place.
It's sad because with their talent they probably could've been successful if they weren't a greedy narcissist.

And I also saw the tweet about the loan. It's quite unbelievable/laughable when it's paired with the tweets demanding that people should feel empathy for Vani when their scamming has actually gone beyond 'internet drama'. Even with Anuvia saying 'well, they OWE me art and i'm quite happy to lick their ass crack slurp slurp', they're still straight up defending somebody who has gone and left their own family to deal with their debt. Oh, wait, sorry: they claim they're not 'defending' Vani but they're also demanding that people who have a legit grievance with Vani shut the hell up and pretend to be worried while they make off with their money.
