Institutionalized sounds awful, but actually I think the best placement for Jani would be a group home. Lots of structure, but they would still expect skills from her.
 
I wonder if Menopause is playing a part in how manic Susan's been the last few months, she's about that age after all (49). I mean she literally burnt Jani in a hot shower after she told her dad Bodhi got a cold shower as punishment, then said it was urine burns, she's definitely ramped up the crazy. What I mean to say is SUSAN YOU'RE GETTING OLD.

Susan drugs all his shit, she's said as much. He knows this, he might be drugged to hell but I assume being cautious is just a habit that he can't even remember how he got. Also, maybe it's the liquid benadryl?
 
There are also NO bruises, bite marks or other marks that would indicate Bodhi was so out of control that he was self-harming and had to be restrained.

That's a bit of a vexed question. I understand the rationality of the concept (if an individual is mentally incapable of supporting/caring for/raising a child, they should be prevented from having a child), but it gets really messy really quickly in terms of ethics. It used to be believed, for example, that individuals with Down's syndrome required sterilisation, but these days most Down's individuals are not. That being said, there are still cases coming before the courts to argue the legallity on both sides.

As things stand I don't think Jani can be an effective mother, but we just don't know if her circumstances are going to change.
 
I have reservations about Bodhi going to an RTC.
There are some good ones, but there are some really fucking bad ones.
Imagine Bodhi ending up in a restraint for having a meltdown in some abuse factory in Utah, and being restrained even more heavily because he doesn't want to be restrained? Bodhi doesn't have the capacity to understand how to survive in one of those places.

The only thing Susan has ever said that I completely agree with is her Diamond Ranch Academy rant.
 
If Jani got pregnant, Suzie Q would file to get custody of the baby and diagnosis it with schizophrenia, too! Probably the rarest form of schizophrenia EVER!
 
Just when we think we've listed everything Susan has taken from her kids, there's another one.

Jani will never be a proper mother. Even if she had a child, she couldn't raise it to the degree a non-medicated Jani could have.
 
Jani is completely incapable of having any parenting skills at all. You cannot give an eternal child a newborn and expect her to parent it properly. Jani becoming a parent would be a recipe for disaster, especially with haggish grandma ready to shove the schizophrenia label the moment the infant sneezes or blinks. Besides, Jani clearly has sensory issues. You think she wants to deal with wiping a sticky baby face or cleaning up after it? We already know how she got when Bodhi cried so there you have it. Jani doesn't need to ever have kids when she's already so messed up. Get her a puppy or a kitten to love and she'd be perfectly content with that.

Like you said there are good ones. I honestly think even an average home would be better for Bohdi than living with Susan. At least his meds would be regulated, and his surroundings would be clean and calm. Oh and no Cory waiting to play "hide the banana".
