Lol at all of those hack journos playing up the 'patriots is MAGA' card hoping they would lose just so they could take a swing at Trump. It's almost like he can't stop winning.

Petitions have never amounted to anything at any time in history.
This is true, but i think at 100k the white house has to address it, which could give us some funny response.

I'd be entertained to hear anyone who can figure out a solution to journalism's ills that isn't some terrible iron fist or censorship. The 24-hour news cycle and the fact anybody can report on events means we have an environment that actively promotes attention seekers and sensationalism as anything less would result in being drowned out in the flood of information we call the internet. This is also made worse as many are lazy intellectual lightweights who will directly tell you that they see no difference between news, opinion, and entertainment.

If anything harms journalism, it's not going to be some dumb GOP politician or people who make fun of them online, it's the fact news organizations are writing "TOP TEN THINGS THAT FIT IN MY ASS. NUMBER 7 WILL SHOCK YOU!" and how coloring Disney princesses with a brown crayon is the peak of political thought.

The only way to stop the propaganda is for someone on the inside to take it down.

EDIT: And by take it down, I don't mean censor it, but for someone to point out the flaws of it.

Washington Post: please ordinary Americans, give us money for a newspaper subscription, it’s soooo important, democracy dies in the darkness

Also Washington Post: we have over 5 million dollars to blow on a Superbowl ad narrated by Tom Hanks

Those pompous self-righteous fools, why don't they know how uppity they sound? Their new slogan is premium grade meme fuel.

"Democracy dies in the dark" is the not what wapo is fighting against, it's the inevitable end result of their ultra-partisan propaganda.

Their logo might as well be an image of the statue of liberty with a plastic bag over its head secured by belt around its neck.

Democracy didn't die, wapo and the rest of their seditious lying peers killed it.

When there's enough political will to stop it. For example, someone starts a Twitter rumor that Bank of America is actually insolvent, which causes a massive run on the bank leading to a stock market crash. hat would get people to think that maybe using some exceptional rando's opinion or hearsay as fact isn't such a good idea.

Sounds like a plan.

You guys miss the old days when football wasn't so """political"""? Is nothing sacred to these people?
It makes me wonder when your average John and Jane are going to get fed up with everything important being politicized

Sad that SJWs have infected that newspaper.

It's almost as though sjwism was bankrolled by the billionaire class.

They feed Trump. The media enrages people by politicizing things they're trying to use to relax and Trump's antics targeted towards the masses despoilers becomes the revenge and entertainment.

That's been done. Bernard Goldberg wrote a book called Bias, about the blatant displays of it shown in the media. It caused some stomachaches and whinging, but no real reform.

There is no solution that doesn't involve an iron fist unfortunately, freedom has proven itself to be a failure.

Look at all that freedom, where Washington tells us all what we can and can't do, who we can or can't talk to, can or can't spend our money on...

The power of the free market. It's already happening, in fact. The layoffs are due to people no longer clicking links or tuning in, and that means less ad revenue, which means either the newspaper has to reform its practices, or be propped up by wealthy ideologues--and the latter does nothing to increase their audience. Starve them out, and they may get hungry enough to shape up.

There's also the power of supporting the truthtellers and the watchmen. Drop a coin in their tip jar; retweet their reports, their callouts, and their vindicated predictions; thank them openly for their work and put your voice in with theirs when they need voices. Even if you despise them because they're a filthy [insert thing you loathe here], give them props when they're right/turned out to be right after all. Do what journalism is supposed to do and separate the message from the messenger, the facts from the philosophy.

And speak the truth yourself. Show that you value honesty by offering it to others. Show integrity, keep your word, follow up on your responsibilities. Even if you're not a journalist yourself, be the person they should be (and you should be), and others will see the difference and realize there's a right way of doing things. Shine in the darkness, and the darkness is pushed back.

We have so much power, if only we realize it and use it.
