I can't exactly check KF at work, but I have to admit, my mind was wandering to MA-8 all day today. Coming home to this thread has been wonderful.

Except John really is going to lose.

All part of the super secret plan: if nobody knew Brianna was running, then nobody would bother going out to vote for Lynch a la people stayed home expecting Hillary to win. Brianna reaches out to her fellow women and motivates them to get out and speak their mind! Vote for somebody who represents them! And they all vote for Lynch anyway....

Don't try to bring too much logic into it. Local politics is what Warren does for entertainment, it has nothing to do with what normal people think of as politics.

Wu is the politician who happened to give him the time of day and tasked him with running errands. Warren found that to be incredibly entertaining, so he supports Wu. If Lynch came to Warren tomorrow and said "Yes, I am your cousin, also, we need someone to do some focus testing concerning how my voter base feels about Bernie's policies," Warren would instantly become an ardent Lynch supporter because Lynch will have given him something to do with his time other than watching episodes of My Little Pony. He just wants to be involved however he can.

I was on the r/politics thread about the Massachusetts primary, and I saw people talking about how excited they were to vote for Wu. I was shocked. Lynch is, legitimately, significantly more conservative than a lot of the voters in the Boston parts of the district, but also, Wu is terrible. If Ayanna Pressley, the challenger in the 7th district, were running in this race--yeah, she'd have a chance, and voting for her would make sense. But Brianna Wu?

Also, speaking of Ayanna Pressley, if she wins, perennial candidate and transgendered individual Althea Garrison gets on the Boston City Council (Garrison came in fifth; if one of the at-large councilors, of whom Pressley is one, leaves for some reason, the fifth place person gets the seat). Kinda hoping she wins just 'cause Althea Garrison getting on the city council would be hilarious.

Two years of lulz culminates at this moment. The age of candidate Wu is at an end, what new age awaits us?
