I can't believe 7 people gave 500 bucks for this thing:

Here's an old post where he tries to dance around the fact he ripped off the concept from Disney:

The Jesus vs. Santa South Park short that got them a deal with Comedy Central was made on a budget of $750. I actually saw that some time in early 1996, I think, because it went viral over the holidays, at least to the extent anything went viral back in 1995.
It was produced in '95 for that Xmas, but obviously spread in '96 when copies of it circulated around the 'usual channels' of the day (basically tape trading, which was how I first saw it). It was produced for an executive of FOX at the time I've read, the film itself was a sort of re-do of what Trey Parker did previously as a student film a few years before (that one had Jesus going after Frosty).

It’s clear the reason Enter is making this a web series is because no network would even give his show the time of day when its (pretty obviously) ripping off the premise of an already existing cartoon
Also all those episode plots look generic as hell

Especially when there's a video on his YouTube where he flat-out says he's going to do exactly that.

Calling these stock plots is an insult to stock plots. This proves yet again that Enter has no imagination and can only repeat what he sees rather than created

Especially since, hypocrite he is, derides other shows for doing the same thing he's doing.

Maybe if he wasn't a cartoon "reviewer", then we'd only just mock him for the fact he wants to make a dumb cartoon. But since complaining about cartoons is something he does, this comes off as a lack of self-awareness on John's part.

I saw it in some kind of video format. It was actually my boss who called everyone over to watch it. It was absolutely hilarious. It probably wouldn't be as much now since you've already seen South Park, but it was really not surprising that it caught the eye of someone and got them a deal.

There is nothing about Growing Around in premise or in any content that gives rise to such hopes about this thing, nor that makes asking for $350,000 remotely reasonable. Anyone know how Enter arrived at this number? It seems peculiar and arbitrary. If he'd just said over $9,000 he'd have got that (and would have over 10 times what Matt and Trey had).

Enter on marketing: "I... I don't know how necessary that would be?"

"It's not really designed to be profitable."

I only just started listening to this and :story:

"It's not really designed to be profitable."

This has to be the stupidest thing I've heard all week. Why would you put all this time, money and effort into something that's not supposed to be profitable? The only reason I can think of is Enter knows deep down that there's a chance Disney will go after him and so he's trying to pull the old "If you do it for free, they'll come after you." Which is not the case. I really think Enter would've done well to watch this video
because it might've saved him all this wasted effort

These generic-as-hell premises make me sorry so many less than stellar SoL cartoons out there are being made fun of so easily right now. As someone who likes watching those types of shows, I wouldn't touch any of this hot, dirty shit with a 10 ft. pole.

Also... really? Really now?? It's not really designed to be profitable, Enter??? Sorry, m8 - money talks. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is NOT designed to be profitable in ANY place in existence where sentient beings are allowed to thrive - and that's TRUTH/FACT.

And here's the link to the Deviantart post in case you want to see details on the other retarded reasons why he needs the money.

I swear he's delusional if he thinks he needs TV quality animation budget for this generic garbage fire of a webtoon.

I also want to let you guys know about an independent Arabic web cartoon series that was promoted 2 years ago called EMARA- and it has been recently releasing episodes on Youtube this year. Episodes are short (11-13 min) and the animation is appealing, although very anime inspired. Now I'm not sure how much money it took to make any of this, but I will say that they at least had a trailer promo of animation years ago to get people invested in their work and the reception is very positive.

No Kickstarter, no Indiegogo. This is just pure talent and people interested in their ideas getting the recognition they earned.

I really hope that the bearded guy is his self insert.

He is though Sally also has traces of being one. Also I find it rather humorous that Enter who hates cartoons before he was born, would base Sally's redesign on one of the standard models for eighties animated girls. Also Gumdrops the Horse looks more like a cow with a wig and Thicc Ass. I take no pleasure in saying it has a thicc ass because I have a feeling it might be intentional.

For people who haven't watched the whole podcast, it's basically an hour of Enter saying "I don't know" and "That doesn't seem important" while Panda slowly experiences something like dawning horror. Of course he's too polite to call Enter out, but as the podcast goes on you can hear it in his voice.

He certainly does not sound very confident even in his own project.

Like the moment someone asks a slightly important question, he just starts to falter.
