"Melee looks better than any recent Smash games."
Melee:
Also in case it hasn't been reiterated before, the new Smash game has either an equivalent to the same tech as what's in Melee or literally the same tech that hasn't been seen since Melee, including a less hand-destroying version of the infamous wavedashing. The game's also been reworked so that it rewards aggression like Melee and edgegaurding is as effective as it in Melee (or in layman's terms, the new game rewards the same playstyle as Melee does). But unlike Melee, there's more than five viable characters/legal stages. It's essentially the Melee people have been begging for.
Don't get me wrong, I used to like watching Melee streams, but holy moly does it get grating after a while. I can't imagine anybody tolerating the same small handful of music, stages, and characters for nearly two decades. At a certain point, you've gotta look for any excuse to pull the plug on Melee after so long, which is partially why seeing people legitimately still getting mad and fervently defending Melee is just sad.
Speaking of Melee players, Mang0 (who is an exclusively Melee-playing competitive player) was invited to the Smash Ultimate invitational. He wound up insulting Sakurai, the game's director, by first acting like he didn't know who he was, then saying he thought he was just some guy who worked on Melee, and finishing up by saying he likes Melee when asked to comment about the game he just demonstrated. It's outlined in this video:
In return, he got disinvited from the next invitational, apparently (I'm not sure if it's a joke but it wasn't presented as one in the video). It just goes to show that even those at the top of the Melee foodchain are still knuckledragging idiots who'll insult anybody who doesn't put Melee on a pedestal over any other iteration, including the man who made the game itself.
