If trolls really did succeed in running Dobson off the internet, it would be the kindest thing anyone's ever done for him.

Dobson is a toxic individual but his obsession with tweeting and posting on the internet and getting into one-sided slapfights is only going to exacerbate it. He's never going to actually clean up his life and be happy, but he could be happier if he'd get off fucking social media.

It’s like he’s just turning his tweets into comics, you’d think he’d be able to churn out at least a weekly mediocre comic with that kind of content.
 
Really late here but with Dobson's last comic he made in Novemeber he's got some cheek criticizing another webcomic over punch lines:
SYAC-4_Is_Too_Much.jpg

A jab at a recent Penny Arcade comic which went on for too long, thus ruining the joke.

Penny Arcade’s not always funny, but at least Gabe’s art improved over the years unlike Dobbo’s. Also it’s still funny how he posted that comic after going on a tirade about being webcomic artist’s a thankless job.

They would need to acknowledge he exists, for one thing, which... why would they? Dobby is even more irrelevant today than he was at the "peak" of his infamy.

Agreed. I dont think anyone outside of this thread and maybe a few random people on /v/ even mention him anymore. We're the closest thing he has to friends, if he loses us hes just screaming to an empty room. In a way I think we're doing him a favor.

We're also the only people who actually discuss and criticise his art. Granted, he never takes on any of that criticism and improves, because that would require effort, but at least we try.

We do him a big favor by validating his autistic believes that there's some sort of secret troll-illuminati that is orchastrating all the hatred against Dobson from our secret lairs.
Without us, he'd have absolutely no boogeyman to blame for his failure - granted, if we (and everyone else in similar platforms) would stop talking about him and delete all the content, he'd still claim that the trolls are what ruined his reputation and credibility.

While his life sucks to the extreme, at least he has a convenient scapegoat that will forever protect his fragile mind and allow him to put all the blame elsewhere.

True, Dobson is a "nothing is ever my fault" type. He always, always shifts blame away from himself to a pathological extent. He was unable to even admit that he fucked up the Zelda Williams thing and had to say that he was only apologizing because trolls deliberately took what he said wrong and hounded him into it.

We've seen that when he's unable to blame the trolls he'll blame others. He couldn't blame trolls for him not knowing how to do a portfolio so he blamed his art school, and tends to fall back on that anytime he's caught in an objective weakness in his art. If he wasn't blaming the trolls for his behavior or failure he'd probably blame his parents. I'd say that he'd blame his ex-girlfriend but I don't think he remembers she's alive.
