At this point she should be well known as a lunatic who just lies constantly with no regard for the truth, but somehow she still manages to stagger from one national press opportunity to the next. I really don't understand it.
Honestly it wouldn't suprise me, if the reason for that is the same morbid curiousity that made people to go to freak shows back in the day, and/or the fascination people have with an animal that knows some impressive trick.

I think I figured out the leap in reasoning that makes Wu think her suggestion is actually sane. I think Wu thinks certificate revocation is some sort of magic that somehow stops the key from working in its originally intended operations, so you can share a key with your bank or whatever, but at any time you can revoke the key and it doesn't work anymore to decrypt the data.

That has to be what Wu thinks, I can't really understand the logic any other way.

I want to know the answer to this in Bitcoin per Watt or FLOPS per BTU.

John's ignorance in information technology, and technology in general, is STAGGERING. EPROM can be erased, considering the E means erasable.

When someone presents a cryptographic solution to an unspecified problem, I generally want to know: What problems are you trying to solve? Don't be vague. I want specific use cases.

I can't think of any worthwhile problem John's proposed system solves well, but I refuse to guess at what such a problem might be. Until he describes what he's trying to do and why, only fools will give him asspats for this shit.

That's awesome John, is it going to be paid out of the Bernie Sanders Free College Fund too?

These fucking people. I can't hate them, though - they provide endless fuel for John's jet plane of autism.

Software engineer Flynt/Wu writes: "When you create your private key, it will be burned into unchangeable EPROM . . ."

The E in EPROM stands for "erasable." Calling it "unchangeable" is what you'd expect from someone with Flynt/Wu's total lack of knowledge of everything about computers, what with complete erasure of the data being about the biggest change possible. He also -- big surprise -- doesn't seem to understand what's involved creating the various types of PROMs.

EDIT: Ninja'd by @Oh Long Johnson and two others. Damn it..

John is a big picture kind of guy. He sets priorities and the little people are to carry them out. If you really have to ask him to explain what viable, novel ideas he's proposing, then you wouldn't understand them anyway.

Because I'm in a piling-on mood: know what else is silly about Wu's crypto SSNs? A Social Security number has to last for a lifetime - 100 years at least. So far, we've never had an encryption algorithm that's been good for 100 years, let alone a key size.
In 1977, the year John was born, the state of the art was DES. Now, in The Current Year, cracking DES is something security researchers do for fun in their spare time.
To which one could say "Fine, we'll just make people update their keys and algorithms as needed." But what do you do if they don't, lock them out of the system? Who's going to be the one to go around to all the old folks' homes and tell them that they need to create a new set of keys because someone invented the hypercosmic quantum computer and the old ones are now too weak?

In many ways Wu is the epitome of the current dumb trend of making everything "smart" without considering if it's necessary or if anything can go wrong. And that's why lightbulbs and toasters and dildos and doorknobs were able to DDOS parts of the internet last year. Can you imagine what it would be like Wu designed system rolled out, and it was mandatory? That shit would brick the entirety of society so fast there wouldn't be any time for an apocalypse, everything would jump straight into the post-apocalypse.

If only Wu understood the teraflops my fidget spinner is capable of. I have so much ram in my bios, the consequences would never be the same. The Wu entity needs to think outside the box. Perspective shifted.

Unchangeable EPROM.

My fucking god, with this idiot.
By pure luck, he's half right.
You can buy EPROM chips without the erase window that are meant for one-time writing, they're still called EPROM but then the acronym means "Electronically programmable ROM" instead of "Erasable, programmable ROM" and a competent person would say OTP (one-time programmable) EPROM to avoid confusion.

Hey did Brianna have a moment of clarity? Is she going to start being decent to people on Twitter like she claims to be instead of attacking them like she actually does? No more snarling?!

Haha yeah, right. It’s a day ending with “y,” so predictably, Wu is attacking someone and accusing him of snarling when all he did was raise real questions. #smugheart

Where dumb "progressives" meet the reality of social progress.

My proudest achievement is that you can play 4 hours of Revolution 60 and still never have played a game in your life.

My proudest achievement is that you can enjoy a 4 hour interactive story that was so bugged on release that you couldn't see the end.
