From a first glance, this guy doesn't seem to be too exceptional, all things considered. However I'm not sure he grasps the concept of cause and effect.
However, it wasn't all for naught. There is apparently a thing called neurodiversity movement whose followers insist that all mental disorders are normal and therefore we shouldn't look for cures.

Some people interpret "neurodiversity" like that, but it's also viewed as a type of radical acceptance that acknowledges there's no real treatment and these people are de-facto just a different variety of human. Only crazy SJWs would argue that autism is the "normal" state of human.

A potentially positive example of this concept is workplaces that cater to autists, harnessing their autism (data entry from the example I saw) with supervisors who specialize in wrangling them. Outside of Autism this argument holds less water. For example bipolar people have primarily have mood swings and they do have real treatments available, they don't have an archetypal variation in their skillset like autists to.

This actually makes me sad. Poor guy seems to have gotten his hopes up. Down's Syndrome presents specific facial traits too, but it's not as though cosmetic surgery is going to fix the underlying condition.
