I was thinking about the immigration problem we have, and what a real solution would look like. The actual solution that I think might actual have a big impact. Go after the employers, the businesses, especially the CEO's. As of now these people seem to barely get a slap on the wrist for employing illegal immigrants, their risk to reward leans in favor of them hiring illegals. The simplest way to cut the flow off, and support for them is to make it a serious criminal offense. I doubt Jeff bezos would want to risk a treason tier criminal charge where he ends up in prison for 20+ years. If we implemented a law like that tomorrow, I have a feeling suddenly there would be a massive number of illegals that get reported to ice, or end up out of a job/don't have an incentive to come in the first place.

Emerging markets is mainly popular in the economics crowd as a nicer alternative to calling them underdeveloped or developing countries. It refers to quickly growing economies that attract international investment such as China, India, Nigeria, and (ironically) Poland. Haitians were right.

Global South appears more stablished in politics as an alternative to politicians calling them shitholes. All these terms have basically the same meaning, which is "not the West".
