isn't the obvious, blatant, undeniable over-politicizing of education or even the poor quality of the actual education students receive. It's the fact that they spend all this time and energy cranking out political foot soldiers but
didn't bother teaching them how not to fuck it up every step of the way.
Like ... they're obviously not teaching anything valuable, and they're obviously programming/brainwashing students to be mindless foot soldiers, but they're
also no good at the thing they're obviously doing while insisting they're not -- creating useful political pawns. This is shit you could literally teach in one semester, even if you didn't want to formally codify that you're openly teaching domestic subversion tactics.
You could call it "Life Skills 101," and spend a single term, one class per week, just one credit hour, telling these dumb motherfuckers the most basic shit: "don't send death threats from work computers because they'll catch you," "don't hit people unless you're part of a coordinated subversion action in carefully-planned locations with pre-arranged legal protection because otherwise you'll go to jail and no one can help you," "don't post public videos shit-talking your employer because if you do they'll fire you." Shit like that.
But they don't. They just figure they can crank out tens of thousands of useful idiots every year and
enough of them will do just well enough to be disruptive and effective without getting themselves arrested.
I still can't help but wonder how the Bill Ayers types in the world (who "pioneered" this seditious shit in the 70's) feel about the current generation of subversives. They have to be shaking their heads about how poorly their hard-learned lessons have been heeded by subsequent generations.
On one hand, i think there are legitiment questions on why the fuck you need a 40,000 sqft data center in a desert, with power usage twice that of the state its in. There is also the water issue, the cooling problem. Filling it up will be a task and a half.
I know it's just kicking the can down the road, but I still think it'd be neat to build some of these big fucking data centers way up north in places like Alaska where the ambient temperature never goes above zero degrees. Fuck all that expensive cooling equipment. Just pipe in frigid air from outside and blow the hot exhaust right out through the ceiling of the build. Big fucking fans
everywhere.
I don't even care why else it's a stupid idea. It sounds cool and I like it anyway.
