Gas prices will lower substantially if Trump does start using the navy to escort ships through the strait, all Iran will be able to do at that point is raise the Maroon Flag of Impotent Seething because their navy practically doesn't exist, their airforce doesn't exist, and their army is divided into half a dozen retard jihadi cells. One of the faults I give Trump is that he thinks too much like a businessman. I'll take it 100 fold over the pure inhuman evil faults of your average lifelong politician, however.
I think Trump is thinking too much like a businessman with Iran. He sees an easy mutually beneficial compromise. Iran gives up it's nuclear ambitions, and Trump will lift the sanctions on their oil. Putting this oil on the open market will increase supply and lower energy prices world wide. Iran get to make a lot more money this way, as they sell the oil to China at a discount. In an businessman's view this is an easy, low risk way for the country to become significantly enriched.
However he's not dealing with businessmen. He's dealing with retarded suicidal goat fucking Jihadists. They don't care about their people suffering, Unfortunately this war probably came too late. Killing 30,000 protestors is a pretty significant breaking of a revolutions back. Had we done these strikes in December, we might of seen those people overthrowing the regime.
However, that's not really a fault on Trump. We needed to secure ourselves before disrupting the global energy supply. That's partly what Venezuela was about, as well as supporting our domestic production. However, the secondary goal was to weaken China by putting Iranian oil on the open market, making China pay more and the world pay less. As it stands I think will only have a temporary accomplishment of the primary goal.
