Mod hosting platform BasedMods, which has been one of the biggest sources to find mods to remove wokeness from video games and edgy video game mods, has been "functionally" taken down.

Although the site is still up and the mod archive data is stored, all of its most important features such as downloading mods and accessing mods are DISABLED. This is because the site uses the data storage platform Arweave, but BasedMods' Arweave address has since been blacklisted, blocking all file transactions, which is the entire basis of a mod hosting site. As almost a month already passed with the downtime still ongoing, it seems that the developer(s) behind BasedMods are still resolving the issue, but no success as of yet.

For those who are unfamiliar, BasedMods hosts video games mods banned from more mainstream mod hosting sites such Nexus Mods and ModDB due to these sites defending "woke" content in the games that these mods aimed to rid of. BasedMods has been the main go-to for hosting and re-hosting "de-wokifying" and "edgy" mods such as "Grounded Commonwealth" for Fallout 4 and "No Alphabets" for Baldur's Gate 3, but the site also caught flack for its numerous downtimes and dilapidated site infrastructure. Some flack also came with the moderation as it pertains to shotacon and lolicon mods, that though most of these mods got removed due to violating the no-shotacon no-lolicon rule which pissed off the pedos, some mods managed to bypass the moderation.

The takedown of BasedMods follows the fall of another mod hosting site called ModdingHaven, which hosts "de-wokifying" mods, which was taken down in July 2025. Interestingly, the largest and the most-censoring archiving site, the Wayback Machine, has a message that they excluded the URL for ModdingHaven, giving a possibility that ModdingHaven was targeted and taken down.

This leaves four five known mod hosting sites that allow "de-wokifying mods" (links are external outside the Kiwi Farms):
  • MODHQ - mod hosting website arm of the chud forum RPGHQ, famous for its modding community that developed "de-woke" mods such as "No Alphabets" and "Realms Restored" for Baldur's Gate 3 and numerous other games (and re-hosts de-woke mods from the sites listed below), anti-pedo, has since branched out to development and hosting of gameplay improvement mods that are extremely popular in the Helldivers 2 community
  • LaXMods - forum that hosts mods that de-wokify games; hosts and re-hosts a lot of "de-woke" mods
  • AyakaMods - mod hosting website that rejects "censorship" of all things - has many "de-wokify" mods that are originally uploaded or re-hosted but also hosts goonerbait mods that are a bit sus
  • Playground.ru - Russian multi-use website dedicated to video games, such as hosting news articles, guides, and mod-sharing (includes "de-woke mods" re-hosted from MODHQ) per video game listed on the website - only in Russian
  • DEG Mods - mod hosting website that rejects "censorship" of all things - has many "de-wokify" mods that are originally uploaded or re-hosted but also hosts goonerbait mods including loli

The meltdown has continued as Chibi released an 18 minute video where he power levels about how when he was a kid he was friendless and shoved in lockers (I'm not kidding), and goes into great detail complaining that he's a lolcow.

Around a month ago, Beethovenus, the director of an Undertale fangame known as TS!Underswap was mysteriously banned from Discord for alleged violations of child safety. No evidence has come out about him doing anything wrong, and in fact the only thing published was from a "OneShotExposed" account gloating about successfully mass reporting him to get him banned from Discord.
