FRISCO, Texas — Karmelo Anthony, the teen accused of fatally stabbing another teen, Austin Metcalf, at a Frisco track meet, has been indicted on a murder charge, officials said.

A grand jury indicted Anthony on Tuesday, according to the Collin County District Attorney's Office. A murder charge is punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison.

Anthony, a 17-year-old former student of Frisco Centennial High School, was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of Frisco Memorial High School student athlete Austin Metcalf in April at a track meet in Frisco ISD's Kuykendall Stadium. He was released from jail later that month after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000.

Anthony has claimed self defense in the case, which garnered national attention, heightening racial tensions and raising security concerns among everyone connected to the case, including both families and Judge Angela Tucker, who is presiding over the case.

"We know this case has struck a deep nerve — here in Collin County and beyond," Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a statement Tuesday. "That’s understandable. When something like this happens at a school event, it shakes people to the core. But the justice system works best when it moves with steadiness and with principle. That’s what we’re committed to. And that’s exactly what this case deserves."

Anthony's attorney, Mike Howard, called Tuesday's indictment "an expected and routine step in the legal process."

"Karmelo and his family are confident in the justice system and the people of Collin County to be fair and impartial," Howard said. "Of course, Karmelo looks forward to his day in court. It's only in a trial that a jury will hear the full story, one that includes critical facts and context that the grand jury simply didn't get to hear."

Howard again raised Anthony's self defense claim in his statement Tuesday.

"We expect that when the full story is heard, the prosecution will not be able to rule out the reasonable doubt that Karmelo Anthony may have acted in self defense," Howard said. "Self defense is a fundamental right guaranteed every American."

Metcalf's father, Jeff Metcalf, told WFAA in a statement that he's "pleased that we are moving forward."

“With the first degree murder indictment, it now goes into the court system," Jeff Metcalf said. "I fully believe that justice will be served for Austin Metcalf. I look forward to the forthcoming trial. But it will never bring my son back.“

Under his bond conditions, Anthony is required to wear an ankle monitor and ask permission to leave his home. If Anthony violates any conditions of his bond, he will have to return to jail. He graduated and received his high school diploma in May, but did not attend the ceremony, WFAA previously reported.

Anthony allegedly confessed to the stabbing immediately after he was arrested, claiming he was defending himself from Metcalf, officials said, as WFAA previously reported.

A witness reportedly told police that Metcalf told Anthony he had to move out from under the Memorial High School tent. Anthony responded by opening his bag and reaching inside, WFAA previously reported.

"Touch me and see what happens," Anthony told Metcalf, according to a witness.

Metcalf reportedly then touched Anthony, the witness told a responding officer, and Anthony told Metcalf to punch him and see what would happen. Soon afterward, the witness said, Metcalf reportedly grabbed Anthony to tell him to move. At which point, the affidavit continues, Anthony reportedly pulled out what the witness recalled as a black knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest before running away.

The deep tension sparked by the incident has raised concerns that the case may be tried outside of Collin County. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told WFAA that the judge will make that decision at the time of trial.

Pushed him? I didn't see this alleged originally, was it?

This is media deflection. Texas law is quite clear on reciprocation. If someone pushes you, it's clearly minor and you cannot respond with deadly weapons and deadly force. You do not stab someone in the heart just to defend yourself so you can flee from... being pushed.

Texas and common law is pretty clear on two points; first you must be proportional in the sense that you can respond to non-lethal force with non-lethal force, and if lethal force is threatened you can respond with lethal force. Secondly, you must have a reasonable fear of imminent bodily harm to act - not correct, but reasonable.

So lets say you're at the park some night and some bimbo comes up to you covered in blood screaming about a crazed murdering psycho and almost immediately after some Jason-looking motherfucker with a bloody machete comes running out of the bushes and so you blast him. Oops, turns out it was an elaborate youtube prank - but any reasonable person in your shoes, accosted by a stranger and then presented with what appears to be a deadly threat, would think its a deadly threat and respond appropriately.

If some little kid screams at you about Emperor Zorg and then his little retard cousin comes running at you with a pink plastic 'laser' sword in broad ass daylight yelling about Spongebob you're not privileged to use deadly force, obviously. Sure a whang in the nuts from a plastic sword hurts, but its not deadly force. You could use non-lethal force like say smacking the toy away and calling the kid a retard though.

So using these simple principles and our brains lets look at the scenario. Little Stabmelo is in broad daylight, at a school track meet, with adults and coaches all around him within easy access by simple shout. Even if we want to give him full benefit and say that the kids in the tent into which he had trespassed were being total dicks about it, like whats the threat? Are a bunch of track squad teenagers from an affluent suburb in Texas going to beat his ass to death is broad daylight at a sporting event with parents and coaches a dozen yard away? That doesn't make any sense - and if he did think that, why didn't he keep swinging at other kids to try and make his escape? Or better yet, why didn't he just leave when everybody was telling his dumbass to kick rocks back to his own tent? What is the scenario here where a reasonable person can feel like they are in any kind of danger, much less imminent severe bodily harm or death?

The answer is there is simply isn't a scenario, outside wildly schizoid delusions, where this was justified. The problem is that low IQ, low impulse control subhumans have neither the patience or the brainpower to employ hypotheticals or theory-of-mind. If you press them on the issue the best you can get from them is a 1:1 projection of their own internal motivations projected onto others like so:
:male: "sheeet, I'd fo sho' kill dat boi an' take all his stuff so o' course dat rich whyte boi wud kill me fer mah favorite crack pipe! I's bettah kill him furst afore he getta me!"

The simple answer is that Karmelo thought he was entitled to be where he wanted to be, take what he wanted to take, and when a bunch of White kids reminded him that actually he wasn't he lashed out. Simple as. Hang him.

@John.Doe

Absolutely.

The bigger, more long term issue is that him and people like him are seeing an outpouring of support, a flood of donations, people - many of them white - sweeping for this murderous animal.

What kind of message does that send?

‘But he called me nigger’ has been used, with a straight face, as a defense in murder/manslaughter cases in the past.

It goes much further than just making sure this one scumbag is properly sentenced, root and branch change of the system, the messaging, everything, needs to occur. Good luck.

It's sad when you read any history of this country prior to the 1900s or so to know that criminals like this would have been pretty much hanged either by the law or by a mob within a week of it happening. Now you wait years just for the nigger to get acquitted as a judge muzzles all publicity. They don't even put blacks on trial for like a solid year at this point.

No I hope he wins and this becomes case law so I can be like:

Me: “FUCK YOU NIGGER!”

Guy: “What? Get out of here dude.” *slighty push’s me*

Me: AaahhhHhHHHHH!! *pulls out samurai sword and chops off his head.*

Then I’ll be like “judge, it was proven with the Anthony case that by sentencing me to jail, you are the worlds greatest racist. I sentence you to death, nigga.” Where then due to a wrongful sentence the state payers me ten million dollars.

Worth remembering it's a defense that has already worked for a stabbing and the racial slur wasn't even used until after the attack. People will say "It's just Portland" but it's worth remembering that for the left, Portland is a goal.

My question to all the white race traitor karens:

So which is it, Obama? Words are just words, sticks and stones? If so, the worthless nigger needs consequences of extreme prejudice to help it learn to human.

OR...

The nigger is a piece of outdated farm equipment unable to withstand the magical word of killing. If so, the International Harvester needs to be separated from society as the (lower than) animal it is.
Even dogs and cats know and act better.

Niggers, blacks, and other skidmarks DO NOT BELONG in human society.

What's the kalshi rating on whether this nigger gets freed or not? My money is on him being found "insane" six years from now and never seeing a jail cell.

Nah, they just pushed the date back as far as they could for some reason. I'm guessing so the defense can find a recording of the victim on Xbox live when he was 7 dropping the dreaded N word to prove he was a racist and totally deserved death.
That reason is that they are hoping the public will forget about this case, so they can pretend the niglet has "schizophrenia" or some other nonsense, and they can release him without any punishment. This is standard tactic for progressives any time a brown does something evil. It's why you see so many brown criminals who have 72 arrests and 33 felony convictions "somehow" never get a day of jail time.

As I recall, the ever-changing narrative has been, in roughly this order:

- Karmelo was snooping around, they got in an argument, Austin lightly pushed him back from a backpack

- Austin totally called him the gamer word in their argument because he's a turboracist mechahitler

- Austin and his brother had totally been bullying Karmelo real hardcore and he though Austin was going to beat him up right there and then

- Austin was jealous of Karmelo's magnificent black dick (yes really, this was something people were posting on social media) and started a fight with him because of it

There's been so many different motives that they've tried to push.

Let’s just be realistic here, White people’s justice system is based on evidence, logic, facts, and established laws and practices. Black people’s justice system is based on none of that whatsoever and is literally just that Boondocks episode. Whoever bixnoods the hardest and loudest and has on their side the fattest Black woman crying wins.

The gag order here is interesting. As the court room will be as blackout mode as possible. When you compare it to the other high profile case in Texas right now (murder of Athena the 7 year old by a FedEx driver) it's a but crazy. As that case was a wide open courtroom. In 2026 courtroom activity in Texas is mostly all recorded and makes its way to YouTube quickly.
It's probably to stamp down on activist shenanigans, as you see in some high profile cases people will try and sneak in signs and/or take pictures of jurors in order to locate/intimidate them.

The racial angle is turning this into a high profile case.

They'll decide he's suffered enough after getting a million dollars, a mansion, and a Bentley for killing a white kid and let him go with an apology from all white people everywhere.

Bear in mind that the nigger was not on the track team, was truant from school that day, had absolutely no reason to be there at all, and could not give a reasonable explanation for why he was in that tent.
Absolutely everyone knows he was there to steal things. He got caught, chimped out like the nigger he is, and now a decent White kid is dead.
Fuck Kriminelo Anfernee. He needs a rope.

Preparing to have a useful skill to trade for protection in prison.
Buddy, the father of the victim is going to be on the stand saying his son deserved it for being White. Do you really think a nigger on the jury isn't going to throw the trial and refuse to convict on that alone?

There's been so many different motives that they've tried to push.
I think my personal favorite was that Austin was on MDMA. Yeah, because a high school track meet in the middle of the day is a perfect place to take Molly, It’s like they tried to think, “Hey, what’s a white person drug?” and this is the brilliant shit they came up with.

He was 10000% there to steal from the unattended competitor's tents.

My guess is he’ll plea bargain, or claim some form of racism or diminished responsibility as a mitigating factor, get ten to twelve instead of the twenty-five to life he deserves, and be out within five to six years.

I wonder how the Hispanic people's justice system is based?
