I would really like to have a Vshojo megapost but it really isn't something I've been following.
Thankfully, there's a summary for retards:
In the span of 48 hours, Vshojo has gone from respected
* #3 in the industry to complete nuclear meltdown.
The sequence of events are roughly as follows:
- Ironmouse leaves Vshojo, stating that the company has not paid out the $500k raised by her charity stream
- Kson calls up the JP head and asks where her money is, because apparently she hasn't been paid since September 2024
- Every other member of Vshojo leaves, including the 4 members of what was going to be their new group
- Several indie vtubers reveal the insanely shady behavior that the Vshojo CEO and managers were conducting
This does not seem very interesting, until you see exactly which indies were involved:
Shylily reveals that the contract Vshojo was offering was entirely vibes-based and
Quinn Benet (Kyo, ex-Nijisanji) reveals (in a now-deleted Twitch stream) that he was secretly messaging and meeting up with Vshojo execs about being poached as a sort of golden parachute for when he left Niji
- Quinn was discussing joining Vshojo using his old Niji twitter account
- Vshojo said they were interested but could not do anything until he actually left Nijisanji
- Other people that Vshojo was talking to had been paid hush money by Vshojo
- After being delayed indefinitely (still with nothing signed), he finds out that Vshojo found three other ex-Nijis (Matara/Nina, Kuro K9/Mysta, Michi/Mika) and proceeded to announce them instead of him
- Vshojo made him wait half a year before dropping his ass like a total bitch and leaving him with nothing
Mint Fantome (Pomu, ex-Nijisanji)
reveals that for the past year, she was actually signed with Vshojo and was preparing to have an idol group with them
- After leaving Nijisanji in January of 2024, Mint does this podcast with Matara of Vshojo in May of 2024
- The podcast does fairly well and had merch handled by Vshojo, they don't receive any of the money
- Later that summer, the two of them catch COVID in Japan, and holed up in their hotel they come up with this idea of making an idol group for Vshojo
- Vshojo had also been helping her with selling mugs and other merchandise, of which she still doesn't receive any of the money
- Mint says that she had actually been signed on to Vshojo for about a year, but they hadn't announced anything yet because the idol group wasn't ready
- This had been pushed back for a significant amount of time and was likely going to happen soon, before Vshojo imploded this week
Sayu (Zaion, ex-Nijisanji, vtuber lolcow) reveals that around the time of her firing, she was also talking with Vshojo about poaching other members of Nijisanji, to which Vshojo was receptive to the idea
- After getting shitcanned for being a massive brand risk, Sayu talks to some Vshojo higher-up about poaching other Nijisanji members
- Clearly this worked, because at least 3 Nijisanji members did leave and end up in Vshojo
- Sayu never gets that contract and Vshojo ghosts her afterwards
In an attempt to jump on the drama bandwagon, she posts a censored screenshot about a Vshojo talent recommending that she join
https://archive.ph/WXRmd
For people who understand anything about Discord, censoring an image without censoring a link accomplishes nothing:
It's not even the first time Sayu publicly spreads private messages, which is supposedly why Matara and her stopped being friendly last year, and why she always seems to attract controversy. There's probably a larger lolcow thread underneath all of this, because Sayu is a 30-something divorcee, ex-FAGMAN employee, ex-Mihoyo tester who got terminated by Nijisanji, revealed that she has to pay alimony to her ex-husband, burned bridges by leaking private messages, allegedly fucked a bunch of vtuber drama news grifters at a convention, failed to join Vshojo, got signed onto a Chinese corpo that fell through, got kicked out of the rented house she was painting, and then burned bridges by leaking private messages
again.
These things, along with a couple of other peculiar circumstances being revealed in short sequence more or less confirm that
- Vshojo really was trying to poach members from other companies
- New and prospective sign-ons were encouraged to badmouth their old companies to encourage more people to join them
- Vshojo was extending a lot of tentacles to a lot of indies, promising things that they couldn't possibly fulfill while knowing that they were a WeWork tier scam that didn't have any fucking money
- Vshojo members haven't been paid in a year, doing it for free all while the company spouted catchphrases about "talent freedom"
*Update post-Veibae dockey
Turns out Vshojo wasn't respected at all and it was all paid shills disparaging Holo/Niji and ex-Vsj talents all along lmfaoooooooo
