An extraordinarily rare floppy disk — one of just 50 copies of Tsukihime Trial Edition ever produced — was allegedly destroyed coming through U.S. Customs.

Collector Keripo shared a video of themselves opening the demo floppy disk delivery on X/Twitter, only to discover the disk had been damaged in such a way that it could only have been deliberate. Across the original packaging tape is another labelled "Opened and Resealed By Customs." It's unclear if it was courier DHL or U.S. Customs that destroyed the disk.

"My Tsukhime Trial Edition (月姫 体験版) finally arrived, one of only 50 copies in the world," wrote Keripo on X/Twitter (thanks, Tom's Hardware). "Only to discover that U.S. Customs had removed all the bubble wrap and physically destroyed the floppy disk. Will file a report, but literally crying right now."

The tweet includes a video of Keripo opening the package. Getting a peek at the contents, they mutter "Oh my god," under their breath, before exclaiming: "What the f***! No way. No way. Noooo way. What… they actually destroyed the floppy disk. What the hell. W-w… what the f***."

If you're wondering if the sender/seller could've sent it like that, Keripo wrote: "This [embedded above] was what it looked like before it was shipped. The sender even took extra care to sandwich it between cardboard paper and use lots of bubble wrap to protect it. Would never have expected U.S. Customs to both remove all that AND intentionally damage the floppy directly…

"It was actually a friend who helped me buy and ship it. He has his own copy, so he was able to do a scan and confirm its authenticity, including some unfortunate bad sectors. But the value isn't the content but the physical collectors item, which has been damaged beyond repair."

Challenged on why they just-so-happened to be recording as the package was opened, Keripo wrote: "When your carefully packaged box containing a historical artifact arrives at your doorstep completely ripped apart and barely held together with 'Opened and resealed by Customs' tape, plus makes rattling noises that it shouldn't when you pick it up, the first thing you should do is whip out your camera and record.

"The video is real, U.S. Customs opened/resealed the box poorly, the item is genuine, not a fake, the package shipped from my friend in Portugal, not Japan, the excess packaging is common for fragile Japanese collector item," they added.

It's unclear why the disk was destroyed, but some suggest the demo's 'Adult Only' label may have been the issue, as the law states "all persons are prohibited from importing into the United States from any foreign country [...] any obscene book, pamphlet, paper, writing, advertisement, circular, print, picture, drawing, or other representation, figure, or image on or of paper or other material, or any cast, instrument, or other article which is obscene or immoral." What constitutes "obscene or immortal" is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Tsukihime is a Japanese adult visual novel released in 2000 developed by Type-Moon. It has since been adapted into both an anime and manga series. Keripo hasn't said how much they paid for Tsukihime Trial Edition, but did point to what they described as an authentic auction listing for it, which went for around $16,000.

Keripo added that they intended for Tsukihime Trial Edition to be the main attraction at a public Type-Moon museum "featuring all their historical works before they became big." "Now its even more special as the one-of-a-kind 'destroyed by U.S. Customs' edition!" they joked.

How would they react if it was regular live action porn?
I guess for people's information no one has ever cared about the porn in Tsukihime or Fate series which is why everything after doesn't have erotic content and was only added to help sell copies. The porn parts are also regarded as also being bad. Hell the fighting game spinoff Melty Blood off is more popular than the VN itself.

Also if you truly think he was trying to import illegal shit you have quite a bit of information if you want to report it to the feds.

I find it weird they still sent him the broken floppy, instead of just a letter with a more formal version of "It's illegal to import what you imported. Get fucked, weirdo."

That almost takes it to a more personal and intentionally antagonistic level, like a pizza guy holding your pizza box vertically as he hands it to you: "Here's your shit, cunt".

Can't decide whether ignorant brown hands made this choice, or if it was someone who recognized what they were looking at and decided to throw some spiteful vigilantism into their work.

Was he reported? If they thought it was illegal did they not consider to send it to their higher ups to have it impounded?

Broke: The government destroying property is dangerous overreach

Woke: Destroying lolicon is always correct even if it's illegal

Bespoke: This never happened and this guy just destroyed a fake for attention

"Yes, it was clearly the work of a customs agent with an intimate knowledge of pornographic 80s japanese pc games."

-an idiot

Because it wasn't illegal, not even plausibly, based on what's there to see. When package contents are plausibly illegal upon search they don't let you keep it and the play is either confiscation or controlled delivery in furtherance of an arrest. This seems like a drugs search gone wrong based on what others have said about floppies and drug smuggling.

Airsofters who air too close to the sun and end up ordering what the feds consider functional firearm receivers from airsoft companies get their packages seized and held while agents make contact with the original purchaser to try to suss out if there's a crime being committed, and even if there isn't, they don't get the naughty bits (they get told they need to transfer them through an FFL which is legally impossible I'm pretty sure), just everything else in the shipment if they file the paperwork to retrieve it.

The one dude who got boinked for loli and just loli (99.999999999999% of loli is boinked because the possessor also has a small mountain of unambiguous CP or prior convictions that relate) caught the attention of his local postmaster somehow and when a package was eventually searched they found Comic LO which...well you can google it. There's a reason he accepted a plea deal instead of trying to convince 12 people those comics didn't meet the legal definition of obscenity. That shit got seized and they searched his house as a result, eventually resulting in an indictment that relied heavily on the part where he got this stuff through the mail (the appeals court noted in this case that possession of obscene materials (distinct from CP) is protected basically only in the privacy of ones home).

Ironically if the seller hadn't gone so over the top with packaging it probably would have been less likely to be inspected like that. Customs agents probably saw something that didn't look like the others and didn't weigh what something typically packed in a wooden crate would weigh and got suspicious to the point of overkill.

Yeah if they thought this was against the law they would not have let it be delivered or they would have arrested the recipient on delivery. We're at the point where agents are alive that never have seen much less handled a floppy disk before so "what's this?!?!?" *hulk smash* is probably the explanation.
Is it possible to have a lawsuit expose the race of this mongoloid?

Oh my ISRAEL, a sub room temp IQ NIGGER destroyed someone's property? Thank YHWH it was a filthy GOONER, if it was a faithful TRVMP voting ISRAEL worshipping PQTRIOT I would be STQRMING the Capitol rn(right now).

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Glasses that let you see the fracture points of the world, and the means to sever them. A secret war between regenerating vampires and the intervention of the Catholic Church. A young man with a murderous alter-ego. Two sisters, each with a horrible secret.

All those plot elements...will be lost in time, like...tears in the rain. Time to *sigh*

I never considered the pure malice angle, I just assumed people these days were naturally too dumb and too young to know what a 3.5in floppy was and some low IQ x-ray machine jockey thought it was a bomb part....

I think that's likely the answer unless someone really had a serious hatred of anime.

Neither can I.

If you know what an old floppy is and want to open it up? Even if the goal is to destroy it to render sensitive info unrecoverable? You know there are much easier and more direct ways to do it than apparently ripping it apart in your hands.... They clearly had no knowledge of how to disassemble one down to it's component parts, or what the component parts even were based on the damage patterns.

This is like taking a sledgehammer to a lawnmower engine when it's easier and quicker to use wrenches even if the ultimate goal is to scrap it.

All in all it's a textbook case of sheer incompetence being unable to be separated from actual malice....

Now you've made me think about it more, it's just incompetence regardless of melanin. If the vandal was competent, he wouldn't even need to be autistic enough to disassemble a floppy disk or ANY shit like that: Surely they could just see the guy's mailing address right there on the package (P.O. box and such notwitstanding) and that's more than enough to anonymously shitstir.

I've had to deal with enough people throughout a handful of retail jobs to know not only do you not need to separate them, they can feed back into each other. The more incompetent in general someone is, the pettier and more incompetent their malice is. Exactly the kind of people who would sledgehammer that engine because that was just the spur-of-the-moment monkey impulse they had.
I once had someone spend upwards of a year straight trying to fuck with me, and I never even knew until another coworker told me the dumbass was getting frustrated that it wasn't working. They were so incompetent they couldn't even find a thing I would care notice.

I should steal this idea and say I came up with it.

Be a lot embarrassing if he can't read, and in court they will deflect saying they are shaming illiterate people.
he was breaking the law yo bringing sicko jap porn into the us
He should stick with local sicko porn then?
People I swear throw money at the stupidest of things. So much shit you can do with 16k.
Like make another AMV featuring Hazbin Hotel characters

This was just a nigger being lazy. Destroying property is a nigger thing to do.

If it is illegal, it is evidence, put it in a plastic bag and persecute it properly.

Tldr, don't be a nigger. USA challange level IMPOSSIBRU. Niggers should be sued. I wanted that floppy to resell it for 17k and buy wine. Fuck niggers.
Everyone in this thread hollering and flinging shit in celebration? Niggers.
