LA PLATA, Md. - A professional cornhole player with no arms and legs has been accused of murder in La Plata.

What we know:
Dayton James Webber, 27, of La Plata is accused of shooting and killing Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf during an argument.

Police say Webber was in his Tesla SUV when he shot Wells in the passenger seat. He then pulled over and asked two backseat passengers to help pull Wells out of the car. They refused and got out of the car before calling the police.

Webber then fled the scene with Wells still in the car.

Wells' body was then found in a yard on Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall, MD. Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.

Webber was located by police at a hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice. He'll be extradited to Charles County and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and other charges.

What we don't know:
Police have not explained how Webber, a quadruple amputee, was able to drive a car or fire a weapon.

"It’s early in the investigation, but there’s no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the shooting and that he acted alone," said Diane Richardson, Charles County Sheriff's Office.

Videos posted to social media do appear to show Webber shooting rifles and 9mm handguns.

The backstory:
Webber underwent quadruple amputation as a baby after a blood infection, according to reports. He's a professional cornhole player in the American Cornhole League.

The ACL has been on ESPN since 2016.

"That's one of the great things about our sport, how accessible it is, and how we like to say anyone can play, anyone can win, because if you want to put your mind to it, you want to put the time into practice, you can become competitive," said ACL commissioner Stacey Moore to Fox News Digital earlier this month. Moore is pushing for cornhole to become a sport in the Olympics.

Here are videos showing Webber using both a handgun and a rifle:

The supreme court should rule that quad amputees are allowed to do whatever they want, as long as they do it themselves. I wouldn’t even be mad seeing them go on GTA style rampages. If one wriggled up to me at a stoplight, threw me out of my car, and ran over my leg as he drove off, my only thought would be “Wow, nice job. Way to go dude.”

And this is what he looks like in action when said action does not involve murdering someone:

(ABC news) - A Maryland man who is a quadruple amputee cornhole champion is facing murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing someone in his vehicle, authorities said.

Dayton James Webber, 27, is accused of fatally shooting the front seat passenger of his vehicle during an argument in La Plata, Maryland, on Sunday and then fleeing to Virginia, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

The victim -- identified as 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells -- was found dead in a yard in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, according to the sheriff's office.

Two people who were in the back seat of the vehicle witnessed the deadly shooting, the sheriff's office said. Webber allegedly asked them for their help in disposing of the body, but they refused, got out of the car, left the scene and ultimately flagged down officers with the La Plata Police Department, authorities said.

The witnesses reported the shooting shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Nearly two hours later, an individual reported the victim's body in a yard in Charlotte Hall, according to the sheriff's office, which said it then obtained a warrant for Webber's arrest.
An officer with the Albemarle County Police Department subsequently located Webber's vehicle at a gas station in Charlottesville, Virginia, authorities said. The suspect was then found at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for an unspecified medical issue, taken into custody upon his release and charged as a fugitive from justice, authorities said.

Webber is awaiting extradition to Charles County, where he will be charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and other charges, the Charles County Sheriff's Office said.

Webber, Wells and the two other passengers in the vehicle were all known to each other, the sheriff's office said.

The incident remains under investigation.

It is unclear if Webber has an attorney. ABC News has attempted to reach out to a representative for comment through his sponsorship email.

Webber is a notable professional cornhole player who was profiled by ESPN in 2023. He was crowned the best cornhole player in Maryland in 2020 and he competed in the American Cornhole League World Championships the following year, according to ESPN.

The American Cornhole League addressed his arrest, saying in a statement on Monday, "This is an extremely serious matter and our thoughts are with all those impacted, including the family and loved ones of Bradrick Michael Wells."

"At this time, this remains an active legal situation," the statement continued. "We respect the judicial process and will not comment on specific allegations or details while proceedings are ongoing."

Webber called cornhole his "calling" in the ESPN feature. He became a quadruple amputee after contracting a bacterial infection that led to sepsis at 10 months old, according to ESPN.
