The Italian Navy might actually be the most powerful Navy in Europe. They have 2 Harrier/F-35B carriers. That actually work! And aren't both laid up in dry dock. They have been operating their carrier Navy for 60 fucking years. When the Royal Navy abandoned all carriers the Italians bought all their Harriers. Then they bought the US Marine ones when they upgraded. Now they are buying F-35B's.

Right now the Regia Marina could seize Scappa Flow before the British put a single ship to sea. (Has HMS Dragon set sail yet?) The French might give them a little trouble if its the 3 months of the year that the Charles deGaule is seaworthy and available for service. Otherwise the Italians would win.

"Regime change" as a concept needs to die.

This is knocking a problem down. Will it come back? Maybe. If you deal with it regularly wont take as long to knock down next time.
