When it's such a lynch pin component like you say there's no chance they would rely on foreign sourcing unless it's an extremely close ally and domestic production isn't possible. In the vanishingly rare cases where allied sourcing isn't even an option, they're not just going to source enough for initial production. They would need a stockpile to prove it wouldn't be an issue before the DoW ever signs a check. This likely isn't the case as I can freely order Gallium Nitrate from Thermo Fischer right now if I were so inclined.

What we should be doing is pulling our punches a bit with friends and family, saying instead, "I think this video is AI, and here's 3 specific examples of why I think it's AI," so we can teach our friends and family how to spot it. We have very little time left to arm our friends and families against gay AI slop. Pretty soon, AI will work out how to hide obvious tells like the thousand fingers, messed up text, and merged unitooth, and the only way anyone will be able to tell is through continuity and logic, which are not most people's strong suits. If we all start working with our close contacts now, by the time AI becomes nearly undetectable, we will have at least trained them to look at all videos with a judgmental eye.
This problem is not new, but rather, new-er. We've already been through the same thing with photoshop before. AI is simply the next generation of the same concept.
