White millenials and gen X embraced everyone else's culture and learned to hate their own. Again to be a cool white person in the 2000s and early 2010s anyone remember how there was this push to mock and demean alt music.
Does anyone remember how black was cool but whiteness was demonized by the people in charge.
Ever noticed how there was the subtle it's not cool to be white and anything "white" is lame and uncool until a brown person makes it acceptable.

When I was in middle school "hood culture" was seen as cool. They really wanted black culture to spread in Canada.

At least one good thing about all the propaganda about "Canada strong" and the like is that there will be less competition. A huge rhetoric I've seen from Canadians is that "you're a traitor if you leave Canada!"

A funny story I remember was when a Canadian lib moved to NYC after Mamdani won as mayor. Even the elbows up crowd don't want to stay here lol.

One of the most uncanny and weirdest Canadian absurdities I recall is the amount of schoolyard Caribbeaners, the odd Jamacain and smelly jeets taking up the then-fashionable colors of Africa and suddenly listening to NWA. Swag and all. Like coming from an upwardly mobile family from the 3rd world and basically being a rich kid living in expensive Canadian suburbs is just like being hood-oppressed and Rodney Kinged. Why? because white kids don't want to be around you, your customs, your food, your head dress and complaints about the racism that you've never actually experienced in a way a black dude born in America living in Compton has.

All these kids of course went on to universities like U of T, UBC and McGill just like Ice Cube, Easy-E and MC 'motherfuckin' Ren.

I remember this, especially when it came to nu-metal and emo/punk. In middle/high school there was an underlying current of you being a problem child and needing attention should you have say Korn, Green Day, or MCR (hell even Billy Talent) blasting on your CD/MP3 player, but rap and hip hop always got you a pass. There's an interesting argument there that the cultural perception surrounding such genres led to the enhanced interest in modern metal and electronic genres during the later 2010s.
