Unironically big if true. Submarine combat has been (officially) very rare since the end of WW2. The last accepted major instance of submarines engaged in combat was 1971 when India and Pakistan were going at it hammer and tongs.

I assert, baselessly, that more glowie chicanery involving subs occurred during the Cold War which was simply not recorded in the history books.

If you check out the Syrian civil war sub on Reddit (one of the few subs still worth visiting on Reddit), there are a lot of Muslims talking about how they're worried about anti-Islam massacres once the IRGC is overthrown because the non-Muslim Iranians view Islam as a foreign culture and Arab imperialism imposed on them via conquest (they're correct).

Speaking of Reddit, the Middle East-centric subs are actually hilarious, and potential lolcow material. Half of them are just endless bitching, moaning, and demonization about Whites/Europeans/the West/Christians/colonialism/etc. while simultaneously justifying, distorting, and downplaying their own 1500-year rampage, colonization, rape, plunder, genocide, and enslavement across the entirety of Afro-Eurasia (including of the White European Christians they hate).

The other half are endless squabbling, finger-pointing, infighting, and seething between Arabs, Turks, Kurds, Persians, Druze, Armenians, Amazigh/Berber, Afro-Arabs, Copts, Sunni, Shia, Jews, Christians, and every other possible ethnic/religious combo you can think of. What a fucking cursed region of the world.

Ukraine did something similar, but to my knowledge they always had personnel and children evacuated beforehand.
Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure Soviets intended for schools to have double purpose. Theoretically, they make for nice rally points/improvised bases in case of urban battle. If things got bad enough for that to happen, kids won't be attending anyway, and any suitable building would be occupied by military and converted according to their needs.

Now, considering US and Israel continue to deprive them of nice things, bombing every building known to house muzzie dogs, this makes sense. It's just that there's every reason to suspect that kids would still be there. Because they're muzzie dogs.
 
Honestly this war alone has grown to be the largest happening in my lifetime and will probably be referenced in multiple different case studies.
The water crisis, regime change (probably), aerial defense and combat, Naval combat, war risk insurance,the gulf's political relation, the energy crisis within Europe and asia and so much more.
And I genuinely do not care if the after math ends up being good or bad I am just glad I get to witness it.

Nowadays there's not a lot of opportunities to make historical first, you either have to wait for gundams and space lasers to be invented and war on Mars to break out, or do something exceptionally retarded. This would definitely be something to commemorate.
