Karl’s absinthe presentation was public before that, along with some photo of him looking like the cover of a heavy metal album on a Satan throne.

Neither of these things was offensive to the same degree as tearing up a bible while chanting “hail Satan” in a weird costume.

In general we had a good thing going business wise despite the civil suit in process. He just couldn’t help doing more and higher levels of alienating people.

@SinistralRifleman I do get the thing with the slow burn. My former best friend of half my life lost his goddam mind during covid, spent 20 hours a day larping as a cat girl in an MMO and is now a they/them that lives in his parents basement amd wears matching outfits with his dad when they go out.

Dude is so bitter he didn't even respond when I told him I was engaged years ago.

Once the anger and pain subsides, as it sucks losing a lifelong friend, you'll slowly start getting hit by it. You'll remember little things here and there and over time you'll realize they were always a dick, they always took you for granted and used you. But you approached them with sincerity and projected that onto them as well, so you were blind to it.

Shit sucks man. But it'll pass. And then years from now, you'll be able to laugh and make jokes about it with the real friends that were there.

I had seen Karl's now ex-wife's Facebook profile way back when and she came across as a nice person who at the time at least *seemed* to be happy in her marriage to Karl, obviously I have no idea what the marriage was *actually* like but based on what we do know about Karl I can't help but assume he was mostly if not entirely to blame for for the divorce. I think the most common headcanon is that he cheated on his wife with "Sarah Noir", leading to divorce. And after all that Karl still ended up having to share Sarah with another dude (possibly this was the only way Sarah would allow Karl sexual access to her at all - if he agreed to not protest her banging other dudes). It's equally as twisted as all the Garand Thumb weirdness but still not as *pathetic*

So let me get this straight, Karl didn't understand why people would cease to support IRTV and didn't want to attend Brutality matches, because he didn't talk about these things on the channel.

In other words, he expected people to compartmentalise their opinions towards him SOLELY to the scope of whatever project he was working on. This is entirely unsurprising, but what sort of hypocritical bullshit is that?!

Karl gets to purity spiral, and sperg out towards anyone who, outside of their work, expresses an opinion he disagrees with. He gets to aggressively burn bridges while virtue signaling, but everyone else needs to compartmentalise their opinions of Karl? The man who can't tolerate a company of mixed ideologies and ideas, expects everyone else to do just that.

I agree. I think it took an already borderline personality, and tipped it over the breaking point.

Karl already seemed to be on the edge after Ian was distancing himself from the channel, and people kept asking why he was no longer contributing. I remember quite a few outbursts in the YT comments about how "InRange was always Karl's project" and "He doesn't understand why people are so focused on outside contributors".

It all culminated in the "return" of Ian for a single video to promote the WWSD rifles (probably the justification to get him to show up) in a match and to go on camera and awkwardly laugh going "I'm just so busy, there's just no time to contribute to InRange all the time anymore. We're still good friends though!" which in retrospect really feels like Karl demanding he appear on camera to stop the comments, so Karl could quit feeling so inadequate and jealous.

Clearly Karl is a huge narcissist along with possibly a mild case of oppositional defiant disorder(yes, this is real. previously normal people would have just called someone with this an aspy retard). Religion, cops, gun rights, cowboy shooting, how to film a fucking youtube video, it doesn't matter. He's incapable of letting shit be, and insists he needs to be right about the sake of shit purely for the sake of it and nothing else. His brain doesn't let him make any sort of compromise, and in fact goes out of its way to find shit for him to have beef with just so he can be a contrarian.


That basically describes Karl's personality and how we see him act in basically every situation verbatim.

ODD is brought up in other lolcow threads from time to time as many of them exhibit similar behavior (Patrick Tomlinson for example), but for an adult the diagnosis would be something different like NPD or BPD whatever. Karl was momma's special boy growing up (he's mentioned not knowing his father or his father walking out on them early on or something like that) and he was likely spoiled which led to the dingbat we know and love today.

You see similar behavioral trends, sure, but the fact Karl hasn't always been like this makes me think ODD is a poor explanation. Generally it crops up during childhood/adolescence, and adult diagnoses are very rare.

Narcisistic tendencies? Sure. Clinically diagnosable? Ehhhhhh.

But the more clinical justifications are really overshadowed by the much more simple explanation that he's just a terminally online asshole. I don't know if it's due to latent daddy issues and feelings of abandonment, or if he was unsuccessfully bullied into normality as a kid. But, his decline into cowdom wouldn't have happened if he was unable to build relationships, or function normally to begin with.

This is true, but it's not impossible to have it as an adult, simply never getting over it as a child. Fatrick is definitely a terminally online retard, but clearly he's able to get something done in life normally outside of posting on social media. That doesn't seem to be the case with Karl.

It was more like being politely run off of their forum because they weren't interested after he showed up, after making a video about SASS that they didn't like as it portrayed their events as boring(they are). He pops up out of nowhere as a nobody(he actually had done some SASS type shooting a long time ago apparently) with his ideas to turn it into the equivalent of a cowboy brutality match and no one is interested.
