Trump not ruling out ground invasions is definitely a bad look(even though i kind of get the logic) a simple "there is no need so far" would be a better response honestly.

Surprise attacks aren't.

Getting the guys in place is probably the easiest part. The food, fuel, ammo, and hardware that is required for a large boots on the ground invasion is massive. We spent 6 months building up logistics before invading Iraq in 2003 and that was with there already being established bases in the region for over a decade. Similar, if probably much quicker, thing happened before Russia invaded Ukraine and they share a fucking border. Everyone knew the invasion was coming for months because of the build up. The only surprise is exactly when.

There has been no logistics build up for a ground invasion (and even the fleet and air build up before Saturday was obvious for the world to see). It would take months before we could be ready to roll over the border.

Anyone telling you this is the start of a boots on the ground quagmire thinks you're a niggercattle and you are one if you got upset at the administration when they told you to. This will have to continue into the summer and we'll have months of mobilization to witness. Then you can get upset.

Any infantry action we could possibly see are Special Forces teams, and slightly large Marine Expeditionary Units design for quick deployment, but they aren't invasion forces, they are limited scope, achieve a goal in hostile territory, and get out forces.

How long would it take to prepare to invade Canada? If I recall correctly a lot of the army bases are really close to major Canadian cities

Nobody thought Russia was going into Poland, and nobody was going into Russia from Poland. I would bet dollars to biskets there was no where near the logistical build up of all the stuff besides troops that I was talking about.

I genuinely don't understand this sentiment in this thread. I see the same kind of energy in questions from reporters too, and all over social media.

They will ask him point blank strategy questions about all sorts of topics and I don't know if its to just spin a narrative or get the gotcha clip or if these people are genuinely retarded.

Let me briefly explain. "Hey Mr. President can you please lay out a detailed plan of your strategy, I'm especially a fan of any hard lines and things that are off the table. Please tell me exactly what you are and aren't willing to do so that you have as little bargaining power as possible and can't leverage threats against our adversaries."
