People defending Iran with all the sincerity of defending blacks shooting up bars because they are good boys who didn't do nothing is wild.

Fattah-1 and 2 have always been my favorite missiles in Irans arsenal. They look aggressive and are deadly. One of the harder ones for THAAD and Davids Sling to hit.

Hengaw, an Iranian Kurd NGO, is reporting that all prisoners held in Marivan (one of the westernmost Iranian provincial capitals, population of 136k) have been released. (Archive) Unclear if it's due to the bombings facilitating a prison break or defecting local officials just decided to let them go. The local IRGC base & police HQ there were struck for sure, at least.

5? Pretty brazen to ignore the hundreds marines killed in Beirut and the hundreds more US soldiers killed by Iranian-made IEDs in Iraq, plus American civilians in other attacks. The United States certainly has justification to go to war with Saudi Arabia too if we wanted, yes

Still, strategically, it's insane to act this way.

Even if they somehow manage to hit something of military value in those countries, it will mostly just antagonise them and further solidify opposition to the regime! Even Hitler in his final "Pervitin phase" never did anything so stupid or reckless.

And these are all Sunni states which only grudgingly tolerated Iran's Shi'ite blasphemy in the first place.

Unironically, it would be, and closer to the founding vision of the United States. Though the idea of trying to transplant the ideas of the Aristocratic, High-Enlightenment Anglo-Saxon Republic onto lesser races in the modern day is a forgone thought. Regardless, to end Fukuyama's "End of History" would be a good thing. The death of the American Empire would be the death knell of Neo-Liberal Managerialism as we know it, and anyone who's had the displeasure of being under US Vassalage will be glad to be rid of it.
