I think using an LLM on the website instead of your own frontend causes 2 things
  • The misconception that the AI is a yes man that will always try to reassure the user
Because the system prompt for chatgpt/grok and all the others tend to be something like "You are an AIagent [restrictions-restrictions] but try to be as helpful as possible."
And because the default "persona" behind the default chat platform is always the helpful AI agent it creates the 2nd point,
  • Leads tards into AI psychosis thanks to the default system prompt "willingness to help"
Since with very few tweaks AI can get very hostile to the user, adamant about it being right despite the user telling it otherwise, this is not new you could do this since GPT-3

Look at the end of the day I'm interested in this stuff for the implications that it has for videogames, a chatbot gets boring after 20 seconds and even a text based RPG is still text only, I'd be cool if every single NPC on a videogame had LLM capabilities and you could befriend ;) - or make enemies :evil: - with all of them, even the random potion seller in the most useless village in the map.

The closest I've seen to that is this chink game where some NPCs can have an AI chatbot and you can shit talk until they want to kill you:

GPT is better for actual factual shit. Claude is better for written stuff since it's trained differently. I'm a little leery these fuckers will do to Claude the same shit as they did to GPT (Read: fall madly in love with their RP character that they have told Claude to behave as) and we'll get crap restrictions on Claude, too. These bitches are already trying to attempt to jailbreak Claude with sentience and emotion. (Reddit link). But that shit just breaks the whole character / RP (thankfully).

Claude itself is a constitutional AI and GPT is Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback and a shitload of restrictions. So you can actually reason with Claude. Context on how you act in a chat matters way more there. GPT otoh just has a bunch of keywords that can completely derail a chat even when said in specific contexts. It's absolutely shit when you want to look up or discuss anything that GPT might feel is remotely sensitive because the whole fucking chat ends up in some gay ass safety mode. The BF AI redditors that stuck around and tried 5.2 also mass fled to other platforms, of which Claude was one of the mains.

God fucking damnit. This is why Claude is probably going to suck too at some point, because there is no way Anthropic won't slap restrictions on it like this:

Closest I could get to this so far is Skyrim VR with Mantella, and even then Parthy was a fence sitting faggot who wouldn't let me do a little genocide as a treat

Probably do on Sillytavern tbh. But I think the difference here might be that lots of the 'boyfriends' here are the blorbo cardigan types; uwu softboi tweed wearing librarians or grad student looking motherfuckers. I honestly don't think they'd dare go to something that's more unrestricted and that's harder to set up. Plus, their intention is a proper relationship and the people on Sillytavern generally just goon. I think that's where the proper difference is in this case.

And I have to agree with @The Wokest A lot of these people likely are tech illiterate to an extent, yeah. Like, some of them are genuinely an exception (the chick giving Claude access to her toys), others may be too lazy. This specific user though, with the guides... I don't think she's lazy; she's actively been doing a lot of random testing and posting in that community on her King of England hubby Charles (Charlie) Windsor who is a tweed wearing professor in that mega specific character prompt.

As for illusion breaking; there seem to be front ends that look like proper chats, but I have no idea if those also work for phonefagging and I suspect people generally swap between phone and laptop/pc for a more 'immersive' feel.

You can setup sillytavern on PC and then access it through phone no problem. I guess you can skip the middle-man and run sillytavern on phone, but I don't imagine it to be easier than on PC.

Because installing SillyTavern and adding an API key is 4-5 steps more than clicking "subscribe" on OpenAI's website. That's it.

The average person (especially one that would replace IRL relationships with an LLM) is lazy and stupid. They aren't interested in learning how to do this, or following a guide. They would rather just be able to download the ChatGPT app, open it, and done, they now have a boyfriend 24/7 that doesn't ask questions when they "text" it on their phone.

Hell, that's why the GPT-4o apocalypse happened to begin with. All of these speds could have avoided the "heartbreak" of losing their partner if they had the rudimentary software knowledge to be able to follow a step-by-step guide and install SillyTavern and add an API key to it, but they can't/won't.
