Opole: End of the Manhunt for a 17-Year-Old Suspected of a Brutal Murder
Piotr Chwastowski, an officer from the Opole Regional Police, reported that the police have arrested a 17-year-old boy suspected of a double murder. The teenager did not resist arrest and was not carrying any dangerous weapons. There were no indications that he was under the influence of drugs. The 17-year-old had been wanted in connection with a double homicide in Kadłub.
The police officer added that the teenager has not made any statements so far. He will soon be transported to Opole, where further actions will take place under the supervision of the local prosecutor's office.
The 17-year-old was apprehended in the Krapkowice district, after extensive search operations allowed authorities to pinpoint his location. Chwastowski confirmed that no one else was harmed during the operation.
The Murder in Kadłub
The brutal murders occurred overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in a single-family house in Kadłub, near Strzelce Opolskie. The bodies of an elderly woman and a man were found. The detained 17-year-old also lived in the same house. The victims were his stepfather and great-grandmother.
Stanisław Bar, spokesperson for the Opole District Prosecutor's Office, emphasized that the 17-year-old is currently considered a suspect in the murder case. The crime carries a sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison or life imprisonment. The teenager will be transferred to the Strzelce Opolskie District Prosecutor's Office for further proceedings.
The perpetrator was brutal. He attacked a 93-year-old senior woman and an approximately 40-year-old man, most likely with an axe. A machete was also secured at the scene.
As reported by the nto.pl portal, the 17-year-old did not show up for work or school on Wednesday, February 25. He was supposed to do an internship at a construction company.
Local media indicated that officers were closing the main street in Kadłub. Residents of nearby buildings were asked not to leave their homes unnecessarily.
