You do realize there was a point to each instance of that, right? Huge blanket tariffs were part of a mutually retaliatory process, almost exclusively with China but also in cases like Canada, who has had a long standing >100% tariff, effectively an embargo, on U.S. dairy?

If your argument relies on intentional ignorance, it’s probably not good

Not only this but keep in mind countries like China bypassing the tariffs by going through Canada first.

In theory yes. In effect, when you have a two party system that is enshrined in do nothing politics while the country burns, no it is a bad thing.
I see, that makes sense I suppose. Do you think if we had more political parties or something like a parliamentarian system with multitudes of parties forced to form coalitions, this would resolve the issue? Like, if there was more actual political nuance and decisions instead of big tent parties who do nothing

Mixed feelings, strictly legally speaking they are probably right. In a less retarded world Congress would do more to protect domestic manufacturing via tariffs and other means. The President shouldn't need to run around threatening countries to show our economic teeth with blanket tariffs. For the 'Trump is finished, orange man has no power' crowd I wouldnt be too smug. Now he has less options, but the forceful  ones are still on the table.

The real short term losers are all the gov employees who have to weed through tariff repayments, and the American taxpayers funding their overtime.

This is logical I suppose. Just frustrating.

Honestly I don’t mind the leviathan, if it’s a White supremacist.

Politics are becoming more and more racial as demographics shift ever more brown and the average IQ sinks lower and lower.
I get what you are saying I think yeah. My fear with this stuff is always what stops a future different administration from doing similar? Like for example: If a president is immune from prosecution while in office (or after for official duties), and the opposite party had control so impeachment was not possible, what is the path to justice here in a legal sense?

Idk i guess what im getting at is I never see people talk about how this wont just backfire in 5-10 years lol

Not in this thread you aren't. The posters in this thread have zero opinions or convictions of their own and the opinions of posters in this thread will change on the whims of a mush-brained, pants-shitting child rapist
I have literally been banned from TESfag threads multiple times, even when i post there so much less.Between you and the trumpfags, shitlibs clearly tend to have thinner skin for some reason.
I have learned from recent experiences that Trumpfags are willing to shoot themselves in the foot if there's even a chance someone they dislike gets mad at it

@Hollywood Hulk Hogan you can't argue someone out of a position they didn't argue themselves into
I mean, did anyone actually present a pro-tariff argument that stood up to scrutiny?
hm tesfag raid? Based.
HAHA fuck that NIGGER! I guess its a loss for americans hoping to get a sweet job working in a plastic molding factory for $7.00 per hour when all the jobs china stole from us came back.
Are you arguing..... the jobs shouldnt be there? Are you retarded?

Tifa is the working class girl from your home town with giant tits

Aeris is this ethereal tease who dies before you can put it in anyways

If you’re a sucker for BPD girls in their manic phase, you’ll gravitate towards Aerith. If you’re pragmatic, Tifa
I am more of an ass man

No, it's not, His tariffs on Steel, Aluminum and other materials stay because they were applied "correctly." Same with the ones on China. Mexico's tariffs stay; agricultural ones stay as well. A quick Google search points that out.

The major difference is that those tariffs come from legislation which specifies the duration, amount, and items that tariffs can be applied to. If we are delegating legislative powers to the executive branch, they ought to be limited, because we are sacrificing the democratic procedure in return for the expediency of centralized authority.

Trump's use of the IEEPA to claim that the executive can put a tax on the importation of any goods, from any country, at any rate, for an unlimited amount of time sounds so antithetical to the nature of how American government should be. One of the points of the Declaration of Independence was the King imposing taxes without our consent. The President is not the representative body of the United States. Consent requires our Representative agree to taxation, and I believe any time we give that power away, it must be explicit in its form.

Genuine good faith question so I can learn more 🤠
Is it not good in theory at least to limit Presidential power? Im coming at this question from a (possibly dumb) position of: I want the federal government to not be this overarching leviathan.

I just dont really understand, so im trying to learn 😇
Generally yeah, you don’t want a dictator. The problem we have is that our political institutions clearly don’t answer to the president unless the president happens to agree with them

I'm sorry Fatpacks I should've heeded to your predictions that Trump was finished yesterday, Trump is finished today and Trump is finished tomorrow. I'll consider your sage statements more seriously in the future.
DATELINE: January 19, 2029

@Fatpacks "It's all over for Drumph now. He'll never be able to ride this out. He'll be thrown out of office within a day!"

Are you implying that mr autisticright actually does work for no pay, even tho it makes him seethe endlessly ?

That sounds like a bad deal. He'd have to be pretty dumb to agree to it.
I was joking, Internet jannies are well known to be highly paid and respected in their fields.
