A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

That explains a lot.
We will be bombing Iran before the end of March.
We’ll be bombing Iran before the end of this work week, by the looks of it. Possibly much sooner. Mad politicians can’t go five minutes without bombing some foreign country or another. Fucking psychos. I’m no fan of Iran, but fucking hell, the American war tour dates t-shirt must be wedding dress length by now, 20’ train and all.

Back of the naughty step as gays keep banning me because they are gay.

Has that Welsh cunt seen the light yet or is he still carrying water for Nigel and his infinite cheap brown labour on indefinite Leave To Remain?

I can’t be bothered reading all the pages.

The UK having a little bit of a war would definitely distract people from all the Restore Britain stuff for maybe a teeny while.

Looks like we're gearing up for a military intervention in some far flung land.
It's early days of maneuvers at the moment but the signs are there.

Will it be Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Greenland, Gaza? We may soon find out.
Most likely Iran. I assume we're making preparations to help run defence again for the jews if they and the Yanks bomb Iran again.

Just tell yourself it’s for the zoroastrians. As long as there is one less country exporting green voters and pretending to be pro independence Scots online I’m happier.

Look, I’m a simple man. All I want is to wake up to 3k new posts on the Iran thread and peanut butter in my breakfast porridge.

While I have no desire to see the UK dragged into a war Trump
We should walk away. America gives it the big licks but it is Britain that stops it from losing wars.
They'll deny it and give it the big 1776, while conveniently ignoring 1812, but the proof is there; Afghanistan crumbled after we left.

Libya was a 24 hour turn around. The movements and sorties have started, so...who knows?

Good excuse not to launch a GE, or to introduce legislation that will remove more rights under the guise of safety.

Do you reckon they will unban me from the thread for being right weeks ago? :story:
The jannies on this website are fucking pathetic. Worse than reddit mods.
I fucking hope not, I'm a reservist.
You're already dead.jpg

Don't worry. I believe this will be an air+naval war, with the UK playing landing pad to yank aircraft currently flying into Mildenhall and Lakenheath. Big fuckers and all.

I'm not worried about war with Iran, I'm worried about what happens here if the Islamic Regime is toppled during Ramadan and the spastics decide to get revenge for the holy paedo republic. Pro Shah/Persian and Pro-Palestine/Islam protestors already clashed in London a few weeks ago.
I hope GCHQ enjoys overtime.

Most of the rioting, assuming that's what it comes to, will be in LANDAN, so it'll be the government getting a first-hand view of the problems they've created for the country. That said, I'm stocking up on food and toilet paper tomorrow, just in case things up norf go seriously south. Already got a couple of week's supply of water in the garage.

It will be similar to Libya, if anything.
Nato air platforms disabled radars, bombed strategic facilities and removed the claws and teeth of Gadaffi, allowing the opposition to storm in.

Unless they push inflation up, or increase prices on the back of a bullshit excuse like 'iranian oil', similar to 'war in ukraine' and 'russian sanctions', there should be no effect on us.

War and economic downturns are the last two tactics for a failing head of state to use to stay in power. Thatcher did it, Blair did it twice.

>Lowe's deportation document highlights every piece of legislation blocking the removal of illegals
(alt link)
I am so immensely overjoyed by this. Now it's easier than ever to point to one place and present this shit to people.

Also the document reckons it'd take a little over 2.5 years to deport every illegal, assuming for every 1 forced removal you got 3 voluntary ones. Essentially, make the conditions so hostile for these people that they'd opt to leave on their own instead of remaining.

This would implicitly create an environment that may even make those staying here legally leave as well, which would be the most desired outcome.

Again the plan itself doesn't mean too much at this stage, but the fact there's a strategy/game plan here at all puts Lowe & Restore leagues ahead of any other option here. Shit, even just highlighting the problematic bills means they become the elephant in the room for every other right-wing party. Now they know what's stopping them carrying out their promises, and refusing to do anything about them is basically dereliction of duty.

So yea, look...if you're going to do democracy the right way, it's about voting on fleshed out policies, not 'he's a big pooopy head', or 'vote for us because we are not them'. Lowe has gone full autistic, and actually looks like he has policies, and fleshed out ones with research and actualy 'this is how we do it' steps behind them. So you know, fuck it...I'll register for a postal vote from overseas if Restore run (lol they never arrive). If he fixes the country, I'll come back from self-imposed exile.
He's doing a shit load more than Reform, and any reform supporters (looking at the Welsh faggot), who claim to want less migration etc... but say 'ooooooh it's going to be hard', while ignoring the actual option in front of them, should be raped by a pack of frustrated doctors and engineers.

Lowe is in the awkward position of having policies that are not merely aspiration, but at the same time they're not actually detailed enough to really count where it matters. It's the worst of both worlds to an extent, because it leaves room to criticise and little room for counter-argument without accusations of making things up on the fly. Maybe he has more detailed policies under wraps and doesn't want to drown people in minutiae. I don't know.

One of the reasons Reform did so well was because Farage doesn't do policy, but rather makes vague, aspirational statements and lets people project their own beliefs onto the party. You can all see the problem with that. IMO it's becoming obvious Lowe rushed into this announcement after his rape gang inquiry, which created a sense of urgency to do something ASAP rather than wait another year and create a more detailed policy set. Assuming all the various predictions of early elections fail, he's got a few years to fill things out, so it's not a huge concern, but there's a risk of being chewed up by counter-autists in the short-term.

I don't have an issue with Iran. They're their own country and can do as they wish. Also didn't the Iranian government say they think the UK is a hotbed of Islamic terrorism? Ha. Hahahaha. Fucking telling.
That was the UAE. Iran is the one that keeps funding terrorists and paying the houthis to shoot at international shipping in the gulf, while killing its own population for wanting to not be muslim. We're only going to be marginally involved in whatever is happening down there, anyway (not least because we don't have the assets), so it's not really a big deal.
