What bothers me is the cost. What the fuck are we gaining from fucking around in the desert again? The billions spent on posturing with the Air Force and Navy could have been better spent securing the American economy or bolstering immigration law enforcement.

However, I can say the same thing about Canada, and it’s much closer to home. If we should militarily intervene anywhere it should be in one of our closest allies which is currently being run by an illegitimate tyrannical government.

The majority of the Canadian military would defect too, meaning much less US troop commitments. Just need a few giant flying magic Doritos dropping moabs on Ottawa.

Bit off topic from the current stuff being posted. But have you guys seen all the news about fifty different cures for cancer being found? I'm 90% sure its mostly scientific press being the sensationalist shit it always has been, but I haven't really bothered reading up any of it.
Its funny seeing the usual retards saying this is because Trump is left the WHO, as if research of this scale could be done in less than a month, even a year might be too short a time. Getting feedback for referees usually takes longer than a month too. I personally haven't seen any clear signs of budget cuts in STEM, just universities panicking and lots of DEI shit being cut.

i see where you're coming from but there are massive obstacles in play with canada that don't apply to iran

like, it is fairly easy to get some level of bipartisan support for action against iran, the mullah regime with their extreme religious zealotry is not popular with republicans or democrats, only a tiny fraction of hardcore anti american tankies would really take offense to them being deposed.
with canada, you'd have 100% of democrats being violently opposed to attacking them, and a large amount of republicans too. getting people on board with military action against a long standing ally is a lot more difficult than if it is aimed at an enemy state that has been very open in its hostility towards america for 40+ years straight.

there is no single "cure for cancer" because there is no single "cancer" disease
there are tons and tons of different types of cancer, all developing from different tissue types with different characteristics and different causes, and they vary widely in how they grow, how they affect the body, and how they can be treated.

"we found 50 cures for cancer" really means "we developed new potential treatments for a few dozen types of cancer out of thousands, and it will take a few more decades of research and clinical trials to figure out which ones just fail outright, which ones actually work on real patients, what side effects they come with, and if they're overall more effective than what we currently have"
