Those were the clever ones. The dumb ones went on for multiple grad degrees for which almost no jobs exist.
Boomers will try and beat it into the heads of their kids and grandkids they need college, but the blunt truth is that is not for everyone. But the problem with blue collar work (the alternative) now is you see people complain about how younger guys don't want to work anymore. The reality of that is apprentices don't put up with being hazed anymore - there are probably an uncountable number of stories of apprentices quitting because a journeyman wanted to mouth off and say something stupid.

Is it just me, or do people in management roles have an even lower IQ than they used to? It used to be managers were dim on average, but serviceable. But at my last few jobs I've had other utter contemptible mouth breathing inbred morons as either the top, or second in command at my work.

One of them was unlicensed for the field he was in and had numerous convictions for selling drugs, and I even reported him to HR once when I caught him doing coke in his office and then they immediately started interfering with my ability to hit deadlines.
About 4 months after I left, he ended up catching a really big charge and is now spending the rest of his natural Life in federal pound you in the ass prison.

The other one was a store manager for the most profitable store in the entire company, and he was a full-blown illiterate. I worked for the man for years and I can say for a fact: he could not read. It was such an open secret that the running joke at that job was no one gets written up while he's in town, because that would involve knowing how to write. He also sexually harassed every woman he wasn't related to, and a lot of them would either quit or transfer to a different store.

I cannot imagine being so completely useless, but still being in charge. Every time I was in leadership position at a job I always made sure to put in 100%, yet it is almost impossible for me to get a position like that in the current market because my parents were not related before they were married.

The Dilbert Principle

Seems appropriate, considering...

Really makes you wonder if middle management is just another form of adult daycare for the invalid, at times

A store that I went to had replaced the keys to their display cases with an RFID sensor that's paired with either an smartphone or an miniature tablet, for some reason
Auditing and access control. You can track who opened what cases and when and with millisecond accuracy to have extremely good backup for your camera tapes, and if one of those tags disappears then you can just use the key manager in the backoffice to immediately disable and poison the tag so trying to use it sets off the alarm instead.

It doesn't replace mechanical keys entirely, but it does have an extremely valuable feature set that makes sense for shit like display cases.

Considering the proliferation of RFID scanning and hacking hardware, I'd say it's only a matter of time till those display cases get emptied.
That's more or less a solved problem and you just need a good vendor with smart tags instead of shitty dumb broadcasters that will just get endlessly replayed by retards with Flipper Zeros.

Oh, to give you guys a little insight into how our competency crisis has come to be, I remember back in highschool I had a friend who just didn't give a fuck about school.

I'm talking this man had straight Fs on his report card one semester, then the next he had like a bunch of Ds and Cs in braindead classes. I'm pretty sure his GPA was sub 2 IIRC. Not because he was a dumbass mind you, he was just really fucking lazy and would rather play vidya.

Still graduated with the rest of us lol.

I graduated around a decade ago....and if things just keep getting worse and worse each year...

Google used to be able to search for context.

If I wanted to find an image of a black cat, I would get black cats. The program would tag the words together.

Now if I enter black cat, it shows me cats of all colours and niggers. It queries for both words and just shows all results.

You can still try to brute force it with "exact phrase" but may the Omnissiah help you out with the jeetcode if it isn't a very simple concept.

"Black cat indoors" will not bring up the article "Black cat in house".

Yeah the fuck is going on with google its as if they want you to use the AI to look stuff up. The results are always just thinly veiled ads and reddit threads.

I've heard that if you append -nigger to your search it disables the AI.

It's related to the Semantic Web line of research in academia where the Internet is a machine-readable semantic substrate with LLMs as a natural-language operating layer for humans to query. The integration of LLMs is one step towards achieving that true Semantic Web. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a line of people really into it at Google.

Edit: Cool quote of Berners-Lee (fag that indirectly destroyed yours and Null's life) for some context:
I have a dream for the Web [in which computers] become capable of analyzing all the data on the Web – the content, links, and transactions between people and computers. A "Semantic Web", which makes this possible, has yet to emerge, but when it does, the day-to-day mechanisms of trade, bureaucracy and our daily lives will be handled by machines talking to machines. The "intelligent agents" people have touted for ages will finally materialize.

I went in for a job interview last year for an office job and the Manager was legitimately a Cross Eyed Death Fat bitch.

In my current desk job, I've simply accepted that I'll never be considered competent by my slight-superior. And she's exactly that end-of-the-road experience-over-skills kind of lady. Lots of opinions to cement her seniority, yet enforce only her opinions to those she deem them neccesary. "We must use the same phrases, words and terms!" - unless it's her darling subordinate. She can be informal and use emojis.

I genuinely wonder how big a part of a given job competency is. It sure as shit ain't actual skills, but all these small social struggles just to GET to express your competences.

competency is important. Trouble is what people think is ‘good’ is often not. So you get the guy who talks all the buzzwords promoted and he smarms his way up and looks good but he’s clueless. In modern office type workplaces, you can get a long way before anyone notices this, and by then you’re part of the club and they all look after each other.
Other jobs, it’s lethal to be incompetent and funnily, you tend not to have the smarmy idiots around.

DEI and other similar programs incentivizing companies to not hire the best.
I'm not sure if people realize how serious this is. In my former job, I had to train generation after generations of helpless niggers. Absolute waste of my time with the implication that if the nigger fails it's never the nigger's (or HR) fault, it's mine because i didn't train them properly because I hate niggers (I do now). I also couldn't help noticing HR would always hire niggers and white women and would only hire white men if they were gay. That's kind of unavoidable given the hiring practice but there is something insidious and very social engineering about it. Total HR death. If you ever meet somebody who works in HR, just know they fucking hate you and you should act accordingly.

It’s because DEI metrics over the last decade have zeroed in on the demographics of management. Certain percentages of managers now must belong to certain groups (nonwhite, female, disabled, etc,) or else they risk being noncompliant with banks, lose government contracts, etc. Just because endcaps at retail stores scaled back the rainbow-colored vomit in June doesn’t mean DEI is dead. Companies don’t wave the rainbow flag but antiwhite hiring practices are still alive and well. Hiring or promoting a white guy to a position with direct reports attracts “concerns” from HR compliance.

The end result is an incompetent management class. The company believes the grunts or other competent (read: white) managers will carry the incompetent managers along. My company has been doing this since 2018-2019 and now we are experiencing “unprecedented” rates of turnover, decline in growth, and some key misses. They will never admit that it’s due to our new and diverse workforce officially but there’s grumbling at the top off the record about it. However, banks, lenders, etc. still expect us to reach our 2030 diversity goals where every metric has a decrease of white men ranging from management to hiring to vendors etc. This is a company that brings in a few billion in net income each year. Targets are getting missed coincidentally around the time we started diversifying our workforce.
