California Newt is a bit of an odd one, you have to take his weird ramblings with a lot of salt. When he says that praying mantises are sexy bugs he doesn't mean that he would fuck one as a human, only if he were a praying mantis.
Other reasons I think this might happen is Ian refers to himself as a "black drake" and not a dragon. To put it plainly, drakes are basically twink dragons in fantasy lore. They're usually more stupid, small, and insignificant in comparison to dragons, so I'm not sure why he would pick to identify with that instead of a dragon.
That sounds like a good enough reason for him to be a black drake right there.
That said, I do agree, he is basing it of WoW.
This clip made me mad untill I remembered that Ian has no understanding of real life, real people or anything outside of Anisa, his basement and Hasan.
If that clip makes you mad, you should see the clip from The Bog where he and Anisa are talking about how their dog shat on some old lady's lawn and she had the nerve to ask them to pick it up even though it was going to rain later so who cares about dog shit on your lawn. Then their cohost joins in to say that if he ever gets to be like that witch they have his permission to kill him.

Definitely. If it had been Ethan who had compared immigrants to pigeons and this guy had made the exact same criticism han would have definitely agreed. The only issue might have been that she felt like he was going too soft on the criticism.
