There's an old video after he did all that buying and he said he was basically painfully aware of the fleeting nature of Youtube fame, so he took a bunch of the money he was getting and did all that stuff so he could have a shop that could be used for youtube stuff but was more specifically to be able to be self sufficient in the day job if it all went away.

I think he figured the money train was petering out and 'went away' for a while. Then figured out that all he had to do was act all bootstrappy for boomers and say things like 'We don' put up with stuff like this out on the rigs, I tell ya wha'.' and presto, secondary income.

I used to watch him years ago and I remember how he would talk about wanting to leave California but his cameraman refused to leave with him (just get a tripod?) I assume now that he has a kid and her families in California he's too tied down now.

Well said. It's the reason he paid $1,500,000 for a 3 acre lot with 2.5 houses on in it Camarillo, CA. He needs the room to play, but its really sad to see the house he's raising a child in is half toober studio and the other half is full of shit from govdeals.

Commentary slop, pure and simple. The first half of the video is just asking questions and not getting to the point. The editing and pacing feels very "MrBeast" or min/maxing the algorithm.

On a more meta note, he has posted a total of 38 videos in only 5 months, with a total watch time of roughly 11.5 hours of continuous sperging about cartoons (3.74M views). What is the likelihood that he is collecting welfare from the government? Either he has no job, has an insane work ethic or writes the scripts using AI. Creating these videos at a minimum requires multiple watches of the cartoon, hours of research, writing, recording, editing and then finally making a thumbnail. A lot of effort for such a relatively uninteresting subject. His first 3 videos were a hit with 40k, 616k and 109k views and then they fluctuate between sub 50k to >200k which is actually quite good for a freshly started channel in 2026.

I watched that one in the past, the guy's full of shit... made me realize how much of his channel is a string of bizarre assumptions and misinterpretations presented matter-of-factly to people who know even less about whatever he's talking about than he does. He tries to dig deep to find some fundamental ideological link between K-On! and Fascism (as if he took that "you can't be a fascist until you've watched K-On!" post 100% unironically seriously) and claims lolicon is some sort of fascistic heritage fetishism/national revival/traditionalist/purity movement and completely misses the actual pipeline:

The KyoAni guy isn't some mysterious loner incel nazi whatever-the-fuck with unknown motives for you to color in with your half-eaten non-toxic retard-safe crayons, it's public knowledge that he was a mentally ill fan that became convinced they "stole all his ideas".

I suppose it only makes sense he cultivated such a braindead audience; if you check this guy's channel you'll find other hits like: bridget tranny video, hours of one-sided sperging about korean gender politics, and a bizarre two-parter defending Nintendo being so anal about its copyrights because (he tries to anthropomorphize the company) the company has "childhood trauma" about the threat of losing IPs from the time it WON a lawsuit over Donkey Kong back in the day. Then he tries to say that Nintendo's only worse than other companies because they all have nothing worth protecting, and that (using SEGA and the decline of the Sonic series as an example) if they valued their IPs more (like if Sonic started selling more) then they'd all take the Nintendo route too and Nintendo's only unique in that they're so successful. Years later and his prediction about SEGA was full of shit, because despite Sonic's recent rebound, they're even more lax with copyright than before and recently went out of their way to encourage/promote fanworks on social media... This guy just decides on his conclusion and then tries to get there with the weirdest arguments possible. He sucks as a culture wars video essay guy and he sucks as a legal analyst.

I like Damon Cassidy, he makes what I consider really good videos on how the boomers fucked up the economy and other such content, but this nigger is incapable of ending a video to save his life.
Usually you just skip the rest of the video after he runs out of script, but he waffles on for almost half the runtime in this one:

Too funny.
