Being a Sam Hyde coping and malding veteran, this is actually nothing like the Christmas Example situation. Channing sabotaged herself and Null walked away clean, even doxxing the identification Channing had given him and (rightfully) shitting on her.

In this case, these two girls (with no evidence) had Null around their finger, and even after they themselves backed away and somewhat turned on each other, Null continues to sweep for them and carry on their claims, despite there being no good evidence for the majority of what they said, and both of them having verifiably lied. At least in Sam's case, there is the Marky thing and the fact that Sam never addresses anything, but even with Tom addressing the most important parts of Katie and Rowan's allegations, Tom's still an age playing manipulative rapist until proven innocent (which is impossible, at least for most of the claims).
