That said, I feel that Trump is the last stopgap before the real tyrant appears. There's always a guy who comes in before the real cataclysmic force appears. He operates within the laws, but is generally berated and stalled by the existing power structure, and ultimately fails. The established ruling class thinks they've solidified their grasp on the overall power structure, but, in reality, they've sent a message to the populace that mending the issues is impossible without violence. Then all it takes is a motivated member of the ruling class (either because they're afraid the existing structure will collapse, they're ambitious, or they have a shred of empathy for the rest of the populace), and they decide to ignite a rebellion.

If Trump fails by the end of his term, it's highly likely we'll see shit hit the fan in the following decade. The populace is too angry and the upper echelon is too isolated and out-of-touch that it's all but assured shit's going to hit the fan. It might not be instantly, but it's going to happen. Trump, ironically, most likely postponed it, but might have also redirected it in a way that will be beneficial once we get through the hard times.

There were a myriad of reformers that tried to right the sinking ship of the later roman republic. The Gracchi brothers being the more famous of them. The senatorial class killed them all, and only threw the plebs crumbs to placate them. Eventually, the senate got Caesar, who despite being assassinated by the senate broke their power forever.

Less dilly-dally, more locking in. Columbus has a carrack, and two caravels. I'd take the caravel, its faster and more maneuverable, but the carrack has more cargo room for supplies, so dealers choice from those two options.

Some advice: You're going to want to rig your ships like Columbus (Put square sails on the main and foremast, and run a lateen rig on your mizzen) unless you feel confident in your seamanship, in which case I'd switch up the foremast to a lateen rigging, as well.

The winds are a bitch up North, and the squares will allow you access to trade winds and the lateens will allow you to sail close-hauled, for when the wind is having fun with you. You could probably make 3-5 knots or better when sailing ~20 degrees off a bow wind with the lateens, if you know your shit.

Mister H compared to Caesar doesn't hold up i think. Caesar was successful, his reforms stuck even in death and he won his wars.

Mister H, even if you think he was right about (((certain))) things was objectively the worst leader Germany ever had in it's long history. He broke the back of the German nation and it has not recovered since.

I genuinely think the Democrats have just straight up stopped trying to even appeal to Americans as voters.
