Late by an entire month and only the lead dev was said to have been detained.
I guess I should do a short writeup on the Chinese TFR situation, because it seems that this thread and the Western TFR community in general all seem a bit clueless as to what is happening.
First and foremost, ChinaTFR is still being actively developed. As a matter of fact it was just updated today, January 27th. Here is the link to it:
https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3504418504.
It currently exists not as a submod but as a Chinese Fork/Redux of TFR, the first lines of the mod's steampage is that you don't need the original TFR mod installed to play it. The name of the mod is 烈焰升腾:潜龙腾渊, which I'll just refer to as Qianlong from now on.
So what exactly happened?
I'm not sure, and this is all speculation. But we know for a fact that the Qianlong mod team and the head dev of CN-TFR have been in a power struggle for a long time, with plenty of mutual animosity between the two. In terms of development philosophy, Qianlong is hardline Chinese nationalist in a way that makes CN-TFR look like pro-Western liberals, with them adding insane buffs in their version of the Chinese military tree, amongst many other differences.
Reading through the Chinese TFR Tieba (Chinese version of reddit), it seems that the split has been a long time coming, with plenty of small issues (one thread complaining that CN-TFR's portrayal of China's treatment of Uyghurs is Western Propaganda, another thread complaining that CN-TFR limits China's ability to spam aircraft carriers, etc) adding up, mostly around CN-TFR not whitewashing/empowering China enough. The biggest complaint though, seem to be levied around the idea that the CN-TFR devs were writing character assassination fanfiction of Chinese patriots in the revanchist paths. All this, and I'm just going off rumors here, eventually led one Qianlong fan to chimp out and file an official report against the devs of CN-TFR for being "ultra-left fascists."
Maybe it was because the report went through, or maybe it was just an excuse and CN-TFR actually dissolved because the head dev lost the balance of power against Qianlong and hemorrhaged too many devs to it. Either way CN-TFR is dead now, with Qianlong stronger and more active than ever, having absorbed most of CN-TFR's former dev team.
If you want to read up a bit on the drama yourself, here's a Tieba thread that went a bit into it:

However it wasn't very comprehensive, as apparently most of the drama was backdoors on discord and the Chinese equivalent of it.
