Reminder:
- LaVoy Finicum was shot dead in front of his wife and children, yet the officers not only got off but were commended for it. The left cheered.
- Lee Keltner was unarmed and shot dead by leftist security guard Dolloff, who got off without charges. The left cheered.
- Any future libertarian who objects to the government inevitably encroaching on his rights will also be shot dead. The left will cheer.
There is no meaningful throughline between this and ICE, or this and Trump. The issue of what use of force is proper to law enforcement is entirely distinct from what law enforcement is accomplishing. Arguing "this means ICE should deescalate" is as loony as saying "this means the police should ignore people sticking guns out of windows" because of Daniel Shaver. The motive is transparently to derail immigration enforcement in an open (and impotent) insurrection against the elected will of the people.
The argument this is because "ICE is poorly trained" is bogus since a) the shooter is an 8-year veteran and b) is part of the CBP. If ICE was being as restrained as people say they want, Trump would be getting lambasted by these same people for breaking his campaign promise to deport, deport, deport.
"Muh principles" is what was spouted in response to McCarthyism and the Red "Scare", one of those crucial moments in history where we could have averted all of this. If your principles are so poorly thought through that you tolerate what will destroy it, then of what use are they? Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Communism is incompatible with civilization. This is a war, and if you haven't realize this you're NGMI.
