Hi everyone, I finally arrived in Caracas and wanted to share a couple of interesting things about the trip: 1. The lines for gas get longer as you approach Caracas. There aren't many cars on the road, and at the moment, bus travel isn't allowed. Only private cars are permitted. Also, many businesses are closed; only the most essential ones are open. 2. The most striking thing: In over 400 km of travel from the southwest of the country, I didn't see a single police officer, which is really strange. On a normal trip, there are usually more police checkpoints than National Guard posts, which were present today. The police checkpoints only had cones placed on the road; their cars were visible at the bases, but there were no officers. Also, upon entering Caracas, the DGCIM (General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence), which has been operating as the last checkpoint before entering the city for over a year, was not present. 3. The city of Valencia in the state of Carabobo (3rd most populated in the country) is heavily guarded; this city was not attacked by the United States and it seems that they are paranoid.
