NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An off-duty ICE agent shot and killed a man who allegedly shot at him with a long rifle in Northridge, according to police.

The deadly shooting happened at an apartment complex on Roscoe Boulevard around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer was in his apartment when he heard what he believed to be multiple gunshots, which apparently sounded like they were getting louder and closer.

The agent took his "ICE authorized firearm" and went outside.

"As the officer rounded the corner of a building within the apartment complex, he encountered a male subject armed with what appeared to be a long rifle," the DHS statement said.

Once he identified himself as law enforcement, the suspect allegedly pointed his weapon at the agent and refused to put it down.

The agent fired his weapon, and the suspect fired at least three rounds back, authorities said.

The agent went back to his apartment to get his body armor and called police. When LAPD officers arrived, they found the suspect dead.

The off-duty ICE agent was not injured.

LAPD and DHS are both investigating the deadly shooting

How racist!
The agent took his "ICE authorized firearm" and went outside.
Interesting that they made that distinction. They're going to push for ICE agents to be forced to disarm themselves before going home. Gotta keep your "ICE authorized firearm" at work and walk out of the building unarmed.

So the ICE officer killed someone attacking them but the attacker allegedly threatened him? I've seen the media use allegedly for people convicted of crimes; the media's use of allegedly is insufferable.

...Does anyone know of a browser extension to automatically delete the word 'allegedly'?

Pointing a gun at a law enforcing official, let alone one with a gun tends to end like this. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I am pretty sure this is what they usually refer to as an "active shooter". At least when they are white.

A Good Guy With A Gun story starring an ICE agent? If this story picks up it'll be the most seethe we've seen since Rittenhouse.

I support the the lowering of standards and increase in new agents in face of the enormity of the issue. But yeah, some of the dorks they squeezed into ICE vests shouldn't be allowed to bring their toys home.

THE CHAD well aimed shot v.s the virgin panic fire.

I'll take this time to remind people that they were preparing 12,000 armed IRS field workers right before Trump won.
To be fair anyone could shout they were law enforcement to try getting you to lower your weapon in LA. That isn’t an unlikely scenario.
It wasn't to get him to lower his weapop(most people know that it won't stop them). Stating that you're law enforcement isn't for anyone in the moment. It's for the paperwork later. So if they try to take him to court, he has the defence of his actions being sanctioned under his authority(granted by the state), you know, as a Fed.

A civilian equivalent, in this instance, is like saying, "stop or I'll shoot". You hope it stops them in the moment, but it's more for your protection later after the action ends.

I like how the faggot being armed is alleged, but the ICE officer is not alleged and a murderer in the journo’s eyes.

You cannot hate them enough, nor can they ever suffer enough to be cleansed of their filth.
