The name-change thing actually isn't real and never happened here, it's one of those "soap and lampshades"-tier myths. Other Ellis Island-era policies were indeed a nativist fantasy by modern standards, but that particular one is fake and gay.

I think they've come to the end of the road on this. The hyperbole has become too extreme and Vance didn't have the notoriety or pre-existing "yuck" a lot of people had about Trump just from his affect and lifestyle. It was easy to convince a segment of the population that Trump was the worst ever because he was a political outsider and a billionaire who didn't know what he was doing. With no political record, Trump was a blank slate, so people could claim he'd be a massive warmonger and get us into a multi-front conflict with American boots on the ground on three continents, or that he'd round up all minorities into concentration camps, or whatever they wanted to say. JD Vance was a senator with a normal voting record. He relates pretty well to everyday Americans. None of the Trump objections really work on him. Making goofy photos didn't work, so they're just going to use more scaaaaary photos until you're scared! Yeah, that's the ticket. Surely that'll be effective.

Yeah, the memeification of Vance has definitely bit them in the ass, and that might be why the pulled back on attacking him.

Making Vance into a meme might of been the biggest contribution to his 2028 run. You put Big Chungus on the ballot and some number of people are going to tick the box just for the irony. Pence had his "Electrocute gays" meme, but it was always on the right. When the left tried to attack Vance with the Fat Jerry Curl and 'We're gonna fucking kill you" edits, it made the memes mainstream, and they completely lost control of it

I've seen a few things that are more than a twitter shit post about it. I feel the same way, I want to see these people rolled up, I want everythign they own to be seized, i want them deported, i want the people that allowed it to happen detained and charged. i want the cops i seen hassling nick to be stripped of any legal protection, and I want them charged as well. That's the bare minimum! these things do take time, but i want to see the feds on the ground and I want press conferences telling me what is being done.
