GamerGate was an ideological movement that was originally centered around halting the encroachment of SJW influence on video game culture, but was quickly co-opted by politically charged internet grifters for the purposes of expanding their careers through outrage bait. Because of GamerGate, several loathsome internet personalities went on to become financially successful and, in addition to destroying the original intent behind the GamerGate movement, went on to undermine other right-adjacent movements as well. Without his success from GamerGate, Sargon of Akkad wouldn't have had the influence needed to join and then destroy UKIP. Without her status as the GamerGate token female, Shoe0nHead wouldn't have been able to spawn the pickme grifter portion of the "manosphere". Without his leg-up from GamerGate, Milo wouldn't have had the clout to enter alt-right political movements, collect dirt on their members, and hand info over to the feds. Ethan Ralph would've never had a career without GamerGate. The same goes for other reprobates like Armored Skeptic, TheQuartering, Rags, etc. You might think that the original intentions behind GamerGate were noble, but ultimately the movement accomplished nothing and caused irreversible damage to the right wing in the process.
