Why does the Netherlands build roads when tram tracks are better in every way?

When the obvious answer of garbage/fire/delivery/services gets brought up, OP cries about the ring roads and other expressways in Amsterdam. The problem is that most of those deliveries still get brought over by truck.

Even if there were substandard highways, it would just mean more trucks on those substandard highways. I mean, when the Mont Blanc tunnel was closed after the fire (so from March 1999 to March 2002) it didn't mean that traffic disappeared, they just went on alternate routes.

Also the "trains are cheaper" guy seems to forget how expensive it is to operate trains. There's a reason you don't see short trains (<5 cars) unless it's being moved to another yard or something.

The layman is stupid, a tool to be used by (obviously bad) political actors such as groypers, MAGA, and all the other right-wing forces of evil. The layman therefore doesn't know they're a tool or being used by le ebul carbrained oil-igarchy. As such the best the leftist can offer the layman is pity and sorrow. No pity and sadness won't come from any tragedy that the layman suffers such as natural disasters, war, or diseases. No the leftist will instead pity them for living under incompetent leadership, corrupt systems, and feel bad for them in the sense they're like dogs who don't understand why feeding time is only twice a day or what a car truly is. It is up to the leftist to 'liberate' them from their invisible shackles.

But the layman is also the chud. By participating within the evil system and by driving their pick-ups, voting Republican or not the correct flavor of Democrat the layman is the problem. After all a system of corrupt and incompetents who're under control of an evil automotive-military industrial complex is often kept there by the stupid and pea-brained layman who doesn't concern themselves with advanced theory, praxis, or whatever. The layman is therefore as a participant in the evil system, a chud.

They're more or less wrong on both points but it's literally one of those "Americans do it this way and Europe does it this way" things that isn't a big deal but because they hate America and Americans do it that way that means it's bad.

Yeah go figure you're comparing semi-medieval houses to post-WW2 prefab houses. One argument they also use in favor of Europistan's le red brick buildings or against American housing is that since a good chunk of the US deals with natural disasters we should obviously be using sturdier building material and techniques to 'disaster-proof' a home. They're especially infuriating when talking about building things in Tornado Alley and how 'if you didn't build shit out of drywall and wood your house wouldn't be blown away' or something along those lines.

Take it from someone who lives in an area of the USA that gets not only tornadoes but also a Scandinavian grade winter plus coastal style nor'easters (great lakes area): it doesn't matter what you make the house out of, it won't survive long. It's genuinely better to just let the tornado sweep away the whole house since it's just going to end up condemned either way. And big tornadoes topple brick and steel buildings too.

ETA: There are plenty of houses around here that were built in the nineteenth century, and are made of wood. They haven't been smacked by a twister yet. If you take care of it and build it in an area where it's safe from floods, twisters, ice storms, etc. It will last a long time, but the average euroshit in his rat infested council house or shitty concrete box apartment doesn't understand these things.

Euros are just generally kinda stupid tbh. They are not physically capable of understanding just how different the rest of the world is from their cozy continent and its mild climate.

There's a meme about urbanist bugmen that gush over "exposed brick walls" among other things, so yes. Drywall is a way to cover up insulation, and just a brick wall means no insulation, boiling hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. It's also better at soundproofing. Yes, there are walls thinner than others, but some retard blasting ghetto rap or K-pop at 2 am in the morning won't be stopped with concrete.

Oh I mean of course they don't. They're visual aestheticists at their core. All Urbanist philosophy, ideology, all the '15-minutes of walking' bullshit is visually pleasing. Not visually pleasing in the same way a painting or an actually good house looks (though they will toot their fucking horns to fellate old European houses) What I mean is it looks good in simulations, both actual proper ones made by real urban planners and gamey ones like Cities Skylines, or SimCity. Where everyone has the same needs, the same wants, everyone's just a bunch of 1's and 0's, and so long as you can string a poop chute to every house, you win. It's why they're bug-men in my opinion. They're not so much about the outwards aesthetics as they are efficency-maxxing everything to an absurd degree.

EXPOSED BRICK WALLS look nice and all but they've always seemed inferior to me if just for regular maintenance. Just this past year I've had to patch&paint parts of my walls for:

• scraping furniture against it leaving a mark
• a child drawing on it with crayon (how would you even get this off brick?)
• minor water leak leading to some minor mold
• moving a cordless vacuum to a different wall mount spot

If it was brick you'd turn a quick repair (usually fill, wait, sand, paint, wait and maybe 2nd coat) into... acid washing? Color matched concrete?

And big tornadoes topple brick and steel buildings too.

My area gets tornadoes, not big ones like the Oklahoma but enough to damage your roof and let rain do the rest of the damage. We also get earthquakes, usually not too crazy but a strong magnitude 6 is a statistical certainty. If your home is structurally made out of bricks or stone or cinder blocks in the worst case it's going to come crashing down in a catastrophic manner where a wood framed house will just jiggle and take it.

Only solution is a house made entirely out of reinforced concrete which yeah no thanks.
