As I've mentioned much earlier in the thread China and India were always historically overpopulated shitholes. Unlike India, China historically has massive boom and bust cycles when it comes to population, where dynasty-ending wars and famines casually wipe out millions if not tens of millions of Chinx until they rapidly repopulate under the new dynasty that has gained the Mandate of Heaven. The most extreme example being the Tang dynasty, where the population halved when comparing the beginning to the end of the dynasty. The population of the entire subcontinent has always been estimated to be growing, with the only known bust being right after they gained independence in the 1950s.
To answer your question, in the beginning of the 19th century when jeets started getting colonized, their population has been estimated to be 200-210 million. The population of China at that same time was estimated to be around 300 million, as a point of comparison.
