One Twitter user said that this is why they need to introduce one of the girls as a lesbian and...that was it. Nothing about what her personality would be, what the writers can do with her as a character, just "She's a lesbian" and thats it. Half the time I wonder if they complain about the whole "She's only used as a love interest to a boy" is just them being annoyed because she isn't being a girl's love interest. If they ever did an episode of Wendy and a girl was a "love interest" to her, these same people would have a different attitude despite complaining about the character not having a personality.
And most of the yoai girls don't want the couple to be together in the canon either because they like the speculation and reading between the lines. Same as in more traditional heterosexual will or won't they relationship, the fans want the chase not the capture. The process is fun but the results are boring. At most they want to avoid heterosexual relationships stepping on their hot boy on boy fantasy.

Its weird because some of these people claim that its not that deep when they make these speculations and yet I've seen them do these full on analysis posts where this character is clearly "queer coded" because of the way they reacted and talk in certain scenes. Example, in the scene where Kyle tries to talk to the girls in the gym, the girls accused him of having a crush on Heidi and Kyle at first denies his feelings for her, but then goes "Do I"? I saw this strange exchange on South Park Twitter where people were legit arguing that Kyle was battling comphet because of the way he denied his feeling for Heidi and was gaslighted into thinking he had a crush on her. If these people argue "Its not that deep and all in good fun", why are they doing these full on analysis posts like they're a psychologist and understand what was really going through the character's mind?
Because it's fun to theorize and speculate. It doesn't really mean you take it seriously, just go with the flow of an idea. Sometimes that gets long simply because you keep finding new things that support or deny your ideas and that can trigger new ideas that also point towards new supporting or undermining evidence and so on.
