But that does not mean the interview is illegal ... I do not understand where her logical leap is coming from, they still need to give an inmate access to a computer to do it, or let him meet with someone in person.

Not only that, but she's citing a policy which is inapplicable to Aaron's situation right out of the gate. Aaron was not a guest of the Minnesota DoC. He was in the county jail with this other guy. What relevance would the Minnesota DoC's media policy have here?

His brief stint in jail was courtesy of the Sterns County Sheriff's Department. They would only put him in prison for a sentence greater than one year.

This is a pet peeve of mine. A lot of people outside the U.S. often do not understand the U.S. runs a multi-layered government.

Local -> County (or Parish) -> State -> Federal.
