Precisely. Ridiculed to oblivion. Just like Richard Spencer. Richard was platformed to oblivion, he wasn't chased out with everyone who ever talked to him.

ETA: when Spencer was forced to the shitkick corner by the movement, the whole movement was also a pariah generally speaking. We dont have to start purity spiraling now, the inroads we've made have been because of the big tent and because of the other side's spiraling; that's where we find success, their apostates. That's not to say to give up ground on key issues, but open discussion of them should be welcomed. When opinion on core elements is semi uniform but fringe beliefs on the less important can be openly debated, thats success, the appeal will be self fulfilling and even move the DNC platform center. Eventually we may even get to stop offering statements and apologies to acts that had fucking nothing to do with us (aka the neo con/John mccain nightmare scenerio.)

Reagan gets a lot of shit for closing the asylums but they'd been in decline for decades prior, because of the liberal media and NGOs chipping away and complaining little by little. Conservatives also opposed them because of how they were being used in the Soviet Union.

He absolutely deserves all the shit for Amnesty though.
 
Republicans wouldn't have gotten as BTFO tonight if Trump didn't go full retard with the messaging on the government shutdown, to the average joe they aren't gonna buy that we can't afford the ACA subsidies when you immediately send foreign aid to Argentina right after.

He's already jeopardized the entire rest of his term over the shutdown. Like I said, his approval rating is cratering hard and it's only going to get worse for him now that Dems can just psyop every election going forward by shutting down the government again, putting the blame on Orange Man Bad, and reopening the government right afterward.
