Cassie Evans (North Wales Police)

A woman smashed a bottle against a bin and used it to stab a man in the neck. Cassie Evans, 34, carried out the attack in Wrexham city centre earlier this year.

Prosecutor John Philpotts told Mold Crown Court that Evans and Aled Roberts were among a group of people gathered near benches in Lord Street in Wrexham at about 6pm on August 18 this year. Some teenagers approached them and "tensions rose", the court was told.

During the incident the defendant, who had had a "litre of gin" before leaving home and then consumed more drinks, became "angry and agitated" towards Mr Roberts, reports North Wales Live.

CCTV footage played in court showed Evans walking to a bin and smashing a bottle on it. She then "struck (Mr Roberts) in the neck with the neck of the broken bottle".

Mr Philpotts said the bottle was pushed into the victim's neck. He added: "It was a determined assault. It seems that the defendant was intent on inflicting a significant wound."

Police were called and Evans was arrested. Mr Roberts went to hospital.

The wound was cleaned and closed with steri strips. He declined "any further investigations or treatment", said Mr Philpotts who said it was lucky it was not a more serious injury.

In a statement Mr Roberts said he fears there will be consequences because he involved the police. He is "on edge" and "looking over his shoulder".

He is paranoid and scared which had led to depression. Oliver King, defending, called the wounding incident "impulsive".

Evans had been angry at something that had happened between them earlier in the day.

He said the defendant is fortunate that the injury was not more severe. He said: "We have not heard of any long lasting complications arising from the injury."

Evans, of Watery Road, Wrexham, admitted wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

His Honour Rhys Rowlands jailed her for 32 months for the wounding charge. He also gave her an eight-month jail term, to run concurrently, for the offensive weapon offence.

Jailing Evans, he made a five-year restraining order prohibiting her from approaching or contacting her victim.

I hear the woman was at a bar and she blew a dog for that litre of gin. I mean what are you gonna do? The dog had a litre of gin.

This is nothing out of the ordinary, Hogarth depicted it vividly in Beer Street and Gin Lane

Man at least the Aussie chick who set the guy on fire after drinking like 40 beers was an actual woman.
