This physically does not make sense.
53 republicans and all but 1 keep voting yes to open the government. If they 100% had the votes to release the files dems would open the government immediately, especially if there was anything damaging at all to Trump inside said files.
All this speculation is doing if you look at it from a objective standpoint is make dems look even worse, because either way they are lying.

Harris might be the most unintentionally hilarious and honest politician we have. She can't even pretend that she has principles, her entire platform is just empty platitudes and "We gotta stop the Republicans!"

There's never an answer as to how though, her script doesn't seem to go that far. Poor Stewart seems to be realizing in real time that she has no idea what she did wrong before.
Great job getting a screenshot at the exact moment John Stewart's hopes and dreams died listening to Kamala's bullshit.

Good Lord, the most establishment of the establishment GOP still lives and breathes and writes? I haven't thought about David Brooks since the cursed GW Bush era.
His theory is also bizarre. The only way he could believe MAGA doesnt have a coherent ideology is if he is being deliberately dense and not bothering to read what its supporters have been saying.

MAGA is essentially just a continuation of Barry Goldwaters platform of American exceptionalisn.

I haven't seen any traffic about it, so here goes....

Looks like the Obamacare/ACA subsidies are no more. Today was re-up day and my $70/month plan skyrocketed to $600/month.

I'm currently unemployed, as I was taking care of my elderly mother (who recently passed) and, ironically, can't really hold down a full-time job due to health issues that requires frequent call-outs. As such, it looks like I'll be uninsured come January 1. And since I do have a raft of health issues that involves periodic hospitalization and a literal handful of prescription pills, I'm basically screwed at the game of life. And I'm way too young to apply for anything like Medicare.

I knew a day like this might come, but had no idea it'd be here so soon, as my mother died VERY unexpectedly. It's been so recent that I'm still in shock and still cry on occasion. Combine that with losing my insurance and there's really nowhere for me to go.

Oh, and my state is looking to completely get rid of SNAP, so there's no relief there, either.

I wish I had invested in something decent in my teens/early twenties.
I'm really sorry buddy. Both for the loss of your mother and for your illnesses. Gonna say a little prayer for you tonight.

Jim Robinson, creator of FreeRepublic has died. Old school conservative website that used to have some clout, but he pretty much drove it into the ground over time with purges.

I remember when the Freep was the go-to conservative discussion site back in the early aughts. Of course even back then it came across as very boomerish, even for me.

In other words, the actual platform of the Republican party before it was hijacked by pro-war leftists.
I dunno, I'd say the MAGA base as a whole seems to have a lot more skepticism on unfettered free markets compared to Goldwater Republicans, definitely influenced by the mass waves of industrial outsourcing, Chamber of Commerce sponsored mass migration, and the rise of Woke Capital.

If the government is not willing to break up monopolies we should at least make sure that new industries aren't smothered in the cradle because the old cartel wants to keep power.

What is your issue with it?

The problem with that kind of logic is that it can be used to support any kind of stupidity. For example, if the government is not willing to stop niggers from looting, the taxpayers should make sure to give them reparations so that they don't loot as much.

If the government is doing something retarded, the solution to to fix the retarded thing that they're doing, not to layer more retardation on top of it in the hope that it will actually fix anything.

WASHINGTON, Nov 2 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump wants to hear from the courts how to fund SNAP food aid benefits for needy Americans and payments could flow by Wednesday as ordered by a U.S. judge, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday.

Trump should come out tomorrow and fund it, but not in states where Senators voted against the continuing resolution. It'll cause a maximum amount of butthurt in liberals, piss off the gibs part of the base that so many of the rely on, and give Republican challengers an advantage in some Senate contests next year. It doesn't need to last for very long because the government will reopen soon after regardless, but it will make the Democrats look bad.

I wouldn't go that far. Goldwater apparently saw President Eisenhower's actions as a "dime-store New Deal" and strongly opposed the President's decision to use federal troops at Little Rock. By the time of his death he was supporting gay rights as well abortion and as quite a few people are aware, did not care for the religious right. It can be said that he was more libertarian then conservative in his politics.

There are elements of Goldwater's views in parts of MAGA, but it's not exactly a spiritual successor entirely.

The DNC will continue to lose easily winnable elections because they get such a massive hubris after just one or two terms that they think "Brat Summer" and "Pokemon to the polls" are good campaign ideas. To literally nobodies surprise, snarky remarks on presidential debates and campaign slogans written by and for 16 year olds do not win you elections.

To be fair, this isn't a democrat problem. They're cringy and stupid, but R's neglect races all the time.
