Fish are our aquatic buddies. But sadly most are born to die. Get eaten by froggos, bears, bald eagles fuck yeah! Or eaten by other fishies
Early man bred the Koi which is the friendliest fish in the world and they wanted it to live so long they actually made some that outlive people! Ichthyoids are awesome, but why do they have to have such tasty and nutritious meat
Salmon are the only fish I know of that humans incubate billions of eggs in hatcheries up and down the coast every year - only to dump the coddled spawn into the ocean... hoping that a handful of years later they return to the exact same rivers and streams (where seiners are perched to scoop them into tenders) that take them to canneries so that we can all have more affordable fish sandwiches.
I sort of wish someone would coddle my eggs (and milt) then dump my spawn into the ocean - if I were a fish.
One time back when I was in school we went to a fish hatchery and got to participate in the whole process from collecting the salmon from the fence in the river amongst all the dead, rotting ones. Then we brought them back and separated the males and the females. Then you bash the females on the head with a wooden club until their eyes pop out, you slice their bellies open and scoop the eggs out. You get like two or three of them into a big metal mixing bowl. Then we all lined up with a male in our hands and then you like bend them so their salmon cum squirts into the bowl and then you take it and bash its head in with a wooden club until its eyes pop out. Then someone mixes it all up by hand and they took it away to the incubator or whatever they did with it after that. It was all fairly horrific. I remember one of my classmates standing there covered in blood with one of those wooden clubs in his hand all bloody looking like some horror movie killer. I can't remember what he said exactly but it was something like that being one of the most gruesome days of his life.
