I was gonna jump into this thread to say something similar to this.

I was testing chatgpt out and I realized that even if you ask something like research questions, it'll like... try to asskiss you? Like I'll say "why were there so many civilian casualties in vietnam" and it'll go "wow that's a good question! you're so smarterino" and its just so... uncomfortable? Why is it trying to get chummy with me? And I didn't even notice that it did this with almost every question I asked until recently. It's definitely intentional.

I may have not even noticed at all unless I was paranoid of everything all the time and know everything is made to fuck with your dopamine receptors. I think we're entering the age where everything will try to fuck with you and keep you addicted to it. Even I realize I have to log off from this site because I can never actually get bored from it. It's probably going to be a lot worse for normies who aren't going to be wary of everything they consume.

The article is meh. The gist of it is that the author says ai boyfriends/girlfriends are just entertainment and people are overreacting to harmless fun. The author's points only make sense if you believe the average ai heavy user is sane and just sees their ai bf/gf as a silly fun thing to do. There are too many posts from people who definitely don't think it's just entertainment. If you're crying over the "loss" of your ai boyfriend, then it's not harmless entertainment. If you're having panic attacks and feeling depression, it's not harmless entertainment. If you're gushing about how much better ai is to real human relationships, it's not harmless entertainment. The author also ignores all the stories coming out from real human relationships being ruined or ending in divorce because one person got addicted to their ai companion.

My biggest concerns about ai companions is how much it warps people's views on actual human communication. The way a lot of users talk about humans being terrible and how hard those relationships are should alarm people in a time where dating and forming relationships are already strained. These companions are not like real relationships and never will be, no matter what kind of prompts you use. Your ai will never get tired of listening to you like a human would. Your ai will never have actual problems to offload or share with you. Your ai will never initiate anything. You are able to exit the conversation and stop talking to ai whenever you want and however long you want. Etc.

A real relationship takes effort from both parties. There are people who don't want to do that. They flinch at any sign of discomfort or accountability. Of course ai seems like a dream come true to them, they no longer have to worry about another person's needs or wants.

Side note, I can't be the only one that thinks this author is a troon right?

I think people have lost the ability to compartmentalize with dedicated social media communities. Its no longer going "well I enjoy X and I will talk about it with others while also engaging in other general discussion" but now "I have to show everything I'm the most dedicated to X in this subreddit thats solely about X so I'm the influencer of X". It has become their identity so they could clout chase about it.

That might explain some people, but I doubt it's most of the ones we see crying about their boyfriends being taken away from them. I think it's most like that "fuck toasters" meme, in addition to people being very online and lonely. It creates the perfect conditions for a certain group of people to end up addicted to a chat bot and assigning meaning to them.

I do believe that there are a lot of people using chatbots that are probably fine. These people treat ai like a romantic and interactive video game, and don't place great importance on it. But clearly there is a not so small group of people that take it way too seriously and it is detrimental to their mental health.

Entering? we were entering this hellish timeline nearly 20 years ago when smartphones and social media started. What you're seeing its merely the logic evolution of that, the zenith being a matrix that people pay to be able to join so they can live in a dreamworld instead a reality that only gets bleaker every year.
 

This is the reddit thread discussing that Ai article I posted earlier that gave KF a shout out. Some of the comments prove just how out of touch these people are, and how wrong the author was to assume the average user on that subreddit is sane enough to see ai as nothing more than entertainment. This top voted comment in particular really annoys and is a perfect example of why the growing number of ai partners alarm me:

This lady is exactly what I was talking about earlier, where some users truly believe ai is better at communication and has higher "emotional intelligence" than humans. She believes that humanity needs to catch up to ai when it comes to being a good human companion... Absolute lunacy.

These ignorant people believe that someone who never complains, never has any of their own wants or desires = a good partner. They believe that someone being able to listen to you trauma dump for hours on end and always be positive and an affirming "yes man" no matter what = an example of a good human partner.

They fail to understand that what they're after is not an actual relationship. What they want is very selfish. They want a mindless simp that worships them and never ever complains or expresses their own needs. They want someone who is okay with being used and discarded whenever they feel like it.

What these people really need is to look at themselves and figure out why all their human relationships have sucked. Something tells me if you feel like people suck and that everyone has used you, like OP here, then you are the problem.

A 'man' who never questions your complete lack of cooking skills or wants to go out with the guys? A 'husband' that won't ever complain about your failure to maintain any feminine beauty or - gasp - ask you for the thing that literally every normal man between 15 and 50 wants? On the flip side this same lack of requirements is why I keep telling fellow 'cels that the technology isn't ready and to stay away from it.

And on another note -- anyone here personally tested the xAI companions? I'm basically waiting for that shit to release on Android so I can check how unstable and unhealthy they made the relationships. I'm super curious to see what psychological hooks they'll be using to reel people back in.

To be fair, I highly doubt porno is (solely) responsible for those problems. Cost of living, excess work, that "men bad" mindset from (some) feminism, and open borders under leftist policy (also) leads to those problems. I think increased porno use -- and the new "chatbot" "relationship" craze -- is a symptom of deeper issues and "social media".
